Augusta deserves more credit
Letter to the Editor

Maybe it's just me, but I find the whole James Brown Toy and/or Turkey Giveaway a bit disconcerting.

It is my understanding that neither Mr. Brown (i.e., his foundation) nor his family actually provide the turkey or the toys. It is the largess of the good citizens and merchants of the CSRA that provides these needy people with these gifts.

I certainly appreciate the late Mr. Brown and others for providing their time and good will; however, perhaps it should be called the James Brown Augusta Community Toy/Turkey Giveaway.

It seems that those who really sacrifice to provide for the needy get little recognition. It is odd that those who really deserve credit so rarely seek it.
