Suspect sought after 19-year-old is shot
AIKEN --- The Aiken Department of Public Safety was looking Thursday for a man who shot a 19-year-old in the head early New Year's morning.
According to a news release, the unidentified victim was shot about 12:20 a.m. on Bradby Lane in Hahn Village.
He was taken to the hospital and his injuries are not believed life-threatening, the police statement said.
The suspect, described only as a black male dressed in black, fired at least four shots from a shotgun before fleeing on foot, police said.

Deer-vehicle crashes rise in county for 2008
Columbia County saw more than 600 deer-vehicle collisions in 2008, almost twice the number of the year before.
The previous record high was 472 in 2003, and last year there were only 366.
The high rate of deer strikes -- up to 602 as of noon Dec. 31 -- is not slowing down at all and is expected to continue into 2009.
Pam Tucker, the county's emergency services director, said the number is likely caused by a combination of development, more vehicles on roadways and the early cold weather, which makes the animals more active.

think there running infront of cars because their tired of seeing Pams name in the paper talking about them and their loses.
Didn't they consider part of the increase could be attributed to increased population of deer. Although the DNR always publishes that the deer herds remain about the same population each year.
The deer collisions are Bush's fault
the deer population stays the same, the human population in CC has exploded over the last couple of years.
We need to start ticketing these deer for disobeying the traffic laws and not crossing in the marked intersections. So typical of them that they fell they are above the law. It all started with Rudolph getting a cushy job that he didn't deserve or wasn't qualified for and now they think they own the place.............
Deer blindness and nearsightedness is caused by the impending inauguration. They're practicing becoming Democrat voters.
