(Due to an online error, a Dec. 22 letter by Vanessa Phamon the Justin Elmore shooting was incorrectly listed for a time as being from Linda Gregory, who actually had written Dec. 22 about the local bus service. A subsequent letter writer made reference to the Pham letter using Ms. Gregory's name. The Chronicle regrets the error. Ms. Gregory's response is below.)
My letter to the editor was about the Augusta Transit System, not about Justin Elmore. I would appreciate it if the Chronicle would retract the views that Ginger Sitler stated were my views (Dec. 27).
I completely support the actions that the police took in dealing with a life-threatening situation. Some of Elmore's supporters even stated that he reached in his pocket and gave money to kids for going to school. Since Elmore was not employed, how did he obtain the money to give away?
Since he was said to be such a good father, then how did he support his children - or did he? All of this could have been avoided if the good man would have simply surrendered.
I stand behind and commend our brave police officers who risk their lives every day for both the good citizens and even for the ones who would willingly do them harm.
These are my real views, and not those of someone who had the wrong name from the editorial page.
Linda Gregory, Martinez
You read? I'm shocked! I'm shocked I tell you! Shocked! Not really. I read your horribly misinformed and baseless comments here daily.
I am not shocked. The AC intentionally did that to make it look like Gregory wrote that LTE.
To all of our law enforcement, emts, firefighters, armed services, may 2009 be a better year for all of you, with less crime, fires and war. God bless all of you that serve to make us safe and free.
Maybe someone who supported Justins life style wil come forward and answer the questions posed by Linda! I doubt that will happen because by now Justin is just a vague memory.
justus..you are in denial.
Justus4, you can only blame slavery for so many years. Most social groups could have moved on to a better life after 143 years. Until you and others realize that the black community with its' attitude that the "man" owes them a living and the fact that many live their entire lives on welfare, food stamps and section 8 housing, all will still be slaves to the system. Get an education that will bring about more employment, rather than dropping out of school, getting pregnant, or joining a gang. Don't say it can't be done, Obama did it and look at where he is now.
WOW ... getalife ... great comeback!!
Getalife, how dare you...state something as blasphemous as facts? How racist. Seriously, good letter. And Justus4, playing the race card ended on November 4, 2008 when an American of African heritage defeated a lily white American for the highest office in the country, and did it with white votes. Free at last...free at last!
amen'' getalife'' you said a mouthfull, but that's the problem these poor blacks today just want to sit around and blame someone for their mishaps, instead of getting up and doing something about it, opportunity will not come knoken if you don't try to make things happen for yourself.
Does anyoneknow if Elmore even finished school? Justus4 never mentallyleft the plantation, though freed over 140 years ago so you just have to over look his ignorance. Brown V Board of Education in HS gave blacks the same educational opportunities as everyone else. Not "whitey's" fault they haven't/don't taken advantage of it.
Jack, didn't you know? Everything's whitey's fault.
