I agree Tina, I am very proud of the above mentioned. I am a caregiver for my husband and the EMT's have been very responsive when I need them. I thank God everyday for the help I get. Good insurance means a lot to us. SusieQ
I read a letter Dec. 22 from Vanessa Pham about the recent shooting at Cherry Tree Crossing subdivision.
I'm sorry, but I have to agree with some of what she said, that the crowd should not have reacted like it did toward the two police officers.
But Vanessa needs to remember that a vehicle is considered a lethal weapon when it is used as a weapon, regardless of who is driving it.
I feel the officers did what they had to.
I ask Vanessa and others to put themselves in the police officers' place before they condemn what the officers did. It is not what they wanted to do, but what they had to do to protect themselves and other possible victims.
The crowd started a mini-riot, and should have been arrested for it. Two wrongs don't make it right. It's like the telephone game - where one starts out by saying something, and by the time it gets around, it has been taken out of context.
The shooting victim had a lengthy history of anti-police behavior, as long as an arm.
Vanessa, the police department has lost a lot of police officers because of the low salary they get. And every time a police officer goes to work every day, they don't know if they'll see their family at the end of their shift. This goes for the emergency medical responders and firefighters as well.
The victim wasn't worried about the cops! All he wanted to do was get out. The victim caused his own fate.
I feel strongly that, regardless of race, parents need to step up to the bat and start raising their children to respect the police and others. You know I'm right.
They also need to talk to their children and put God back in the home.
As for the parents of the victim, I feel your loss, but your son chose how it would end. I feel like everybody should have to walk in a cop's shoes, an EMT's shoes and a firefighter's shoes before you start blaming the wrong party.
I'm proud of our sheriff's department and I stand behind them 100 percent.

Good letter Tina.
Enough already!
Tina you are so right.
The crowd should have been free to riot. Then, the world would see what's what.
I agree with you Tina. I would add that anyone who disagrees, hasn't seen the fine police officers I have seen. They work in the cold, rain, snow, regardless of the hour of the day, to insure we are all able to live in peace with each other. Teach your children what Police really are and that is they are probably your best friend in times of good and bad.
willistownsc, I'm sure you would allow the next riot to take place in your town, on your street. Thanks for the offer and for being such a sport!
Tell you what, Williston, let's give the crowd the freedom to riot in your front yard. Then, we'll see how hot you are to let them have freedom to riot. Police officers often have a split second to make decisions to protect themselves or others. Have you worked in law enforcement? I have, and believe me, you don't do it for the money or prestige. You do it because it's gotta be done. Just once I'd like to see a post from you that actually made sense. But, it sure isn't today!
Willie, your low IQ is showing again.
Strange and stranger willistontownsc...Yep that pretty much describes my shock and awe of such a ludicrous statement...
Jack, you said Willie and IQ in the same sentence. You're joking...right? I'd love to see how Willistontownsc would handle looking at the business end of a 9MM by some punk who couldn't give a dead rat's butt about his civil rights.
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke in King Chapel at Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 1962. In a speech that inspired a generation of Cornellians, he concluded with the words I am convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don't know each other, and they don't know each other because they don't communicate with each other, and they don't communicate with each other because they are separated from each other.
