Makeda Tene' , an Augusta native and former student of the Augusta Mini Theatre, has accepted an invitation to sing at the 2008 Holy Ghost Congress in Lagos, Nigeria.
NAACP elects officers
Dr. Charles J. Smith Sr. , the president of the Augusta branch of the NAACP, has been re-elected to a fourth term. Other officers include Dr. Gloria Williams-Way , first vice president; Rosa Thomas , second vice president; Lizzie Wilhite , treasurer; Frederica Cado , secretary; and Linda Wiley, assistant treasurer.
Donates for daughter
John Pawlowski , head baseball coach at Auburn University, and his family have donated $10,000 to the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center in honor of his daughter Mary-Louise, who has cancer.
A college leader
Katherine Hilson , of Augusta, has been named one of the 2009 Southern's Orientation, Advisement and Registration leaders at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro.
