SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. - Mrs. Elinor Johnson Chandler, age 68, of Social Circle, GA died Monday, December 29th, 2008 at Newton Medical Center in Covington, GA. Born in Newton County, Mrs. Chandler was the daughter of the late Marvin & Sara Shepherd Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Haskell Chandler, Sr. A resident of Social Circle, Georgia, Elinor retired from Newton County after 20 years service as Director of Human Resources. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Covington and the Covington Pilot Club. She enjoyed taking care of her five grandchildren and spending time with her friends. She is survived by three children; a daughter and son-in-law Edie & Edd Lowe of Athens, a son and daughter-in-law Jack & Wendy Chandler of Evans and daughter, Elaine Chandler of Athens. She is survived by five grandchildren; Andrew, Caleb, Kenan and Landon Chandler all of Evans and Sara Mack Lowe of Athens, her two sisters Ruby Dell Crawley, Hester Niblett and brother, Ronald Johnson. Also surviving are numerous Sisters-in-law, a Brother in-law many Nieces, Nephews and special friends. Pallbearer's include Lanier Crawley, Ed Niblett, Greg Harper, Scott Harper, Wally Johnson and Jerry Smith. Funeral services for Mrs. Chandler will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31st at the First Presbyterian Church of Covington, with the Rev. Billy Wade officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. The family requests that Memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Covington Covington, GA.
