AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest December 29, 2008 at Heartland Hospice, Mr. Charles Sam Claypool, Sr., 91, wife of the late Mrs. Marjorie Burt Claypool. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. William B. Burch officiating. Military honors will be accorded during the service. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery. Mr. Claypool was born in Peoria, Ill. He retired from Atlanta Gas and Light Company after many years of service. He served with honor in the U.S. Army during World War II, having received many medals and commendations. Charles was a life long member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Charles Claypool, Jr., Evans, Gene Claypool, Townville, S.C., Jimmy Claypool, North Augusta; and five grandchildren. No visitation will be held.
