Although South Carolina allows most commonly sold fireworks, Georgia restricts their sale and use.
WHAT'S LEGAL
- Most wire or wood sparklers
- Snake and glow worms
- Noisemakers with paper streamers
- Party poppers, string poppers, snappers and most drop pops
The penalty
At minimum, police will issue a warning and confiscate illegal fireworks. Violations can net a $1,000 fine and jail time.
Safety tips
- Read firework label directions first
- Light one firework at a time
- Don't reignite a malfunctioning firework
- Make sure there is close adult supervision of fireworks displays
- Have water nearby just in case
- Never shoot fireworks at someone
- Call 911 in case of an emergency

I just hope one of my near neighbors does not shoot off skyrockets again this year. There were skyrocket remnants all over the neighborhood the next day. These same people carried on with fire crackers well past midnight and had their noisy kids screaming around the neighborhood until 2:30AM. Now, celebrating at midnight is one thing, but, people, kindly remember that some folks work for a living on New Years Day and would appreciate some consideration without involving law enforcement!

im glad to see that georgia allows some use of fireworks. its a tradition in my family to pop firecrackers after dark. now if its done safely there shouldnt be a problem but like DONH said about the mess i have to agree. i dont mind neighbors having some fun but after 1 am please start settling down or take it indoors. also if you pop fireworks please be responsible enough to clean up afterwards. we usually sweep al the mess into a pile until the next day when we will pick it up. if your firecracker remnants go into the neighbors yards or whatever please pick it up. i usually end up picking up my whole street but hey i dont complain cause someone has to do it and when everyone is our there having fun you really cant tell whos is whos. My family always goes to WW's in SC for fireworks. We set them off in the streets every year while the cops drive by and wave or stop to watch. We've never been issued any kind of warning or citation.....the most I've heard the cops say is "Whoa....that was cool!" And yes! We live in Georgia!
Next morning we ALL clean up. Good point luckiducki!
We live in GA and our neighbors like the frieworks we shoot. My family sets off fireworks but we always pick up the pieces in our yard or in our neighbors yard. They like us shooting them but they also don't make a big deal about the trash. We pick it up because we want to. Happy New Year to everyone.
My crazy neighbors celebrate with fireworks at all times and I'm talking birthdays, anniversaries, births, deaths, grandma's visits you name it they use them!!! I get so tired of hearing these stupid fireworks I guess that's what I get for moving to SC!!!! If I would have known how this would be I would have never moved here!!!
