Some at a west Georgia newspaper might feel today like they're in the same boat with Cynthia McKinney -- and just got rammed.

The nutty former congresswoman was on a boat to Gaza this week when the Israeli Navy bumped it hard enough to require repairs.

Whatever your feelings about the Palestinians, you shouldn't wish Cynthia McKinney on them.

Meanwhile, the west Georgia newspaper asked its readers this question online: "The Israeli military offensive against Hamas and Gaza will complicate efforts to reach peace in the Middle East. Many say it is time for a new strategy in dealing with the crisis. Should the U.S. open dialogue with Hamas?"

Clearly, the paper was hoping for a more sympathetic response -- the question was so leading there were bread crumbs. But more than 81 percent of readers Tuesday said "no," no dialogue with Hamas.

Most folks know which side to take.

Cynthia McKinney's support of Hamas will only make them more certain of it.

Hasn't she had her full 15 minutes yet?

Tujeez1

GG, Don't tell anybody I said this, but she's a kook. She's hoping to be resurrected. She's seeking 12 more minutes from the court of opinion on a Temporary Insanity Clause. Evidently, if your crazy(Insane) you can get your minutes reinstated. I personally hope she gets some kind of medicine that will keep her sane long enough to get her remaining 12 minutes in.........quick, before she goes loopy again.

GnipGnop

Maybe, just maybe, Hamas will elect her as it's president.

GACopperhead

Revoke her passport.

rbk

She is a kook who has received her just rewards and it's too bad we have to let her come back. Revoke her citizenship.

_SisterAbdullahX_

Gee....I wonder why justus4 supports Mckinney? Is it her political views.....or is it, perhaps, her color alone?

Riverman1

Ha, that west Georgia paper is the AJC. So is she in Gaza with all the bombing? I saw her ranting on TV about Israel in front of the boat she was on with the big hole in it.

Riverman1

I looked it up. The boat never made it to Gaza. It docked in Lebanon with a huge hole in the side. Her father says she is going to try again to get into Gaza.

_SisterAbdullahX_

I sincerely believe that if Charles Manson were black, that justus4 would demand his release from prison. Let me guess......OJ was a victim of the all white media too?

Cynthia McKinney was my Congresswoman for awhile. She represented me better than anyone from J. Roy Rowland to John Barrow & everyone in between. McKinney represented MY interests & voted MY interests. She opposed the U.S. war in Iraq. I oppose the U.S. war in Iraq. McKinney supports the Palestinian cause. I support the Palestinian cause. McKinney was on a boat taking humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Other such boats have made it through the Israel blockade which preceded the current Israeli bombing campaign. I am not surprised that 81% of the readers of a west Georgia newspaper responded to the online question by responding "No dialog with Hamas." 81% of Augusta Chronicle readers would respond the same way because Americans are misinformed by the media about the situation in Gaza & the roots & causes of the current violence. U.S. media is entirely biased toward Israel. Anyone who disagrees with Israeli foreign policy is labeled "anti-Semitic". I second what justus4 wrote. That makes it 6 to 2. By this measure 75% of AC Reader Comments favor no dialog with Hamas. Cynthia Mckinney, justus4, nor I have to be a perfect human beings to be right about this & other issues.

Reality

I hope she does get in to Gaza, next week let her into the territory Hamas is pummeling with rockets. If I had slapped on officer of the law, I would still be in jail anyway.....

At 3:15 am EST the BBC received reports from hospitals in Gaza that 390 people have been killed, 1900 people have been wounded, 150 children have been injured, 22 children have been killed, 73 women have been injured, and 9 women have been killed. Israeli deaths total 4. Juan Cole reports: "The Israeli government appears to have rejected international calls for a 48-hour truce to allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza. Lack of electricity, fuel, medicine and even food is threatening to create an even deep crisis there than during the Israeli blockade that has been in force off and on for the past year.
In fact, an Israeli ship rammed a vessel attempting to deliver medical supplies to Gaza, severely damaging it and endangering the passengers, who included Karl Penhaul of CNN and former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. The boat, which was in international waters, could easily have sunk."

JohnRandolphHardisonCain

Adding Reality's comment, that makes 7 Readers Comments critical of McKinney & Hamas verses 2 supportive of McKinney & Hamas. That is 78%. Making fun of McKinney diminishes the seriousness of this issue. But that is par for the coarse. Nevermind international dialog. Smugness passes for civil discourse among ignorant, arrogant Americans. When UN weapons inspectors were in Iraq doing their jobs in a competent manner, rightwing warmongers like Neal Boortz made fun of Hans Blix. "He couldn't find his [filtered word] with both hands" Boortz derided Blix. Well, it turned out that Blix & El Baradei were right. There were no WMD in Iraq. Bush & Cheney were wrong. Bush continues to blame all western intelligence agencies for making the same mistake, but in fact, all western intelligence agencies take their cue from U.S. intelligence agencies. They all use U.S. provided intelligence. So planting false intelligence INFLUENCED all western intelligence agencies to make wrong assumption. But it sure was fun deriding Hans Blix! It sure is great sport deriding Cynthia McKinney. Another Roman circus!

Reality

I don't blame all of the intelligence agencies for some one making some poor decisions, there is plenty of blame to go around. McKinney is an idiot, she put herself in danger by going there for attention and therefore gets what she deserves, it was not a truly humanitarian trip on her part...

ONLY THE TRUTH

Was George Bush commanding the boat that rammed McKinney???

Lauren Noto

Leave her with Hamas. It's best for everyone.

christian134

McKinney supports opening talks with the Hamas...No surprise here...

GACopperhead

McKinney is a nut. Remember her assault on the guard? She, and everyone else that backs Hamas and Hezbollah are the ones that are misinformed and are backing people who target civilians intentionally. No matter what the reason, this is wrong. Again, if the idiot Lebanese and "Palestinians"(no such thing as Palestine) want peace, let them WAGE PEACE, not terrorism. I have always been opposed to the war in Iraq, because of the patently false excuses for attacking, and because it has hurt our war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, but Israel's war against factions that determinedly wage war against Israeli civilians and swear they will destroy Israel is perfectly justified. May Israel exterminate all those who will not agree to a reasonable peace settlement and ignore cease-fires and truces. Reality, I dont know if you read my last post on the Hamas editorial from yesterday, but, before you argue religion or theology, you need to educate yourself on them, and not pretend to know a dang thing about them.

I4PUTT

Wow...Cynthia McKinney again. She has been voted out of office. She has historically been on the wrong side of almost every issue. Her stance on the war was even in the minority at the time. She certainly got a pass on the guard issue. Both her & her father are nuts who have had way too much media attention. According to Israeli spokes people, the ship carrying the idiot savant McKinney was getting too close to the Israeli vessel in an area of military operations, and was warned 3 times. Cynthia traveled half way around the world to support a terrorist organization. And justus supports this. Makes sense to me....

bone

jrhc and justus4 supporting cynthia mckinney; gee, who saw this one coming? what a bunch of nutbags.

GACopperhead

I also meant to say that I wish JRHC and justus would go help fight against Israel. They need to put their money where their mouths are.

christian134

They are special folks by way of their superior pedigree 14PUTT and bone...:-)

"McKinney represented MY interests & voted MY interests." Posted by JohnRandolphHardisonCain on Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:24 AM - JRHC - Two wrongs does not a right make. And imagine, a CNN reporter with McKinney, go figure.

dani

The Mckinney incident was the bright spot of the day. We all needed a good rip-roaring laugh...what a joke she is.

Reality

gacopperhead, I don't see where I have argued about politics or religion, but I am glad to see that you think so highly of your writings on the subject....

GnipGnop1

Like I have said before, JRHC continues to favor those countries that would execute him for speaking against them. He rails against US policy and the soldiers that provide the very freedoms he takes for advantage. He takes up the cause of countries that wouldn't allow his wife and daughters to show their faces in public, get an education, have a job and would be treated lower than the males of said countries. I invite him at any time to go to Fort Gordon during mess and tell American soldiers how he feels about them. I would like advance notice though. I would love to video tape the results for posterity. I can see how Cynthia voted for everything he stands for. I can also see what Justus' name really means. In every instance his stand is evident without ever posting it. All he would have to do is just type his name now because he is so one sided. Must be the white man's fault. Not everything is black and white. It must be sad to carry all that hate in your heart.

femacamper

jrhc - I'll vote for dialogue

JimCox

I miss Cynthia, she singlehandedly helped Georgia Republicans raise more money that any other Dem in history!

The sooner that Cynthia (the one-time cutest little COMMIE in CONGRESS) McKinney becomes room temperature and quits wasting oxygen, the better!!!!!! She and her "I hate WHITEY!" father, Billy are the personification of the old phrase "The nut doesn't fall far from the tree". She should be serving time for her assault and battery on the Washington federal security officer, but the thought of an eternal dirt nap for Cynthia is so much nicer.
