WE WONDER WHY the economy is such a comic mess. The state of South Carolina uses credit from the federal government to pay people in South Carolina not to work. Why don't states pay their own unemployment bills? No, they (South Carolina, at least) "tap" a $15 million line of credit from the feds. Meanwhile, South Carolina still needs $147 million to pay unemployment benefits just to the end of March. Currently, South Carolina is paying more than $14 million a week in benefits. And that's just one fairly small state. Boy, are we, the U.S., in a mess or what? Everybody owes everybody, yet the feds manage to skim off their cut from the top.
THIS A RANT to all the lawn-care people who blow leaves and pine straw out in the street. Try taking it up and the rest of us will not have as many clogged street drains when it rains. The city should ride around and stop this, if the lawn people won't. I believe it would be classified as littering.
My life was saved by four pints of donated blood. This Christmas I've asked my family that they donate blood instead of a wrapped-up Christmas gift. Think about it.
A HUGE RAVE for the gentleman who gave my mother a gift of money Sunday afternoon at the North Augusta Wal-Mart. A year ago she had a home invasion, losing her money. She never got over it. Your gift made a big impact on her. Now I want to pass it on. God bless, and Merry Christmas.
SOME OF THOSE CEOs on Wall Street are so low they would rob a dung beetle and show him the wrong way home on a stormy night.
A RANT TO THE wealthy elite. For decades, when your peers stole from the middle class you turned a blind eye, calling it white collar crime, with little or no consequences. Now that you are experiencing the pain, I wonder what you will do about it.
CAN SOMEONE please tell me how much auto assembly line workers make? If it's as much as some say, that may be part of the reason they are in such trouble and I can't afford a car.
