The Miller Theater MUST be saved. We are so fortunate to still have a historic structure like this that has dodged the wrecking ball like GW dodging flying shoes.
As a huge fan of thankfulness (and of the Miller Theatre) I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to Peter Knox IV for giving yet another generous gift to the city of Augusta.
Mr. Knox has donated the magnificent Miller Theatre to the Augusta Symphony with the hopes that she will be refurbished to her former glory and used as a venue for all arts, both performing and visual.
The Miller has been open in recent months for events such as the Augusta Photography Festival '08, World War II Love Stories and a special showing of Soundies . The comments about the building have all been positive. One man left stating quite emphatically, "This building must be saved."
Of the approximate 500 people who have officially signed a guest book, suggestions for comedy acts, symphony and rock concerts, educational lectures and plays have been offered. People have also seen the potential for events in the large foyer and mezzanine areas.
I also want to thank Pat Knox Hudson for her loving persistence to couple the symphony with the Miller and Mike Deas for his continued passion for historic theatres.

I remember the Miller theatre . When I was a small child I spent many saturdays there. It was certainly quite beautiful then. Even the restrooms seemed elegantly appointed. Perhaps a link to how to support this cause would be helpful.
.....about 25 years ago the last movie I watched was "Papillion" with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman....the year was 1973. I believed it closed not long after that year...anyone know for sure?
