AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Wednesday, December 17, 2008, Mrs. Eula Jean Mills Cook "Granny", 95, wife of the late Louis Cohen Cook. Mrs. Cook was a native of Warthen, GA, daughter of the late Lilly Victoria and Baxter Mills, and had lived in Augusta since 1942. She was retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital after 34 years of service. Mrs. Cook was a member of Fleming Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Barfield Sunday School class and the Young at Heart. In recent years, she attended Columbia County Christian Church and Gough Baptist Church with her daughters. Granny, as she was known to her family and friends, was a very caring and quiet person, a very good cook and seamstress. She put her Lord and Savior first in everything she said and did. God touched and blessed our family with such a loving and kind mother. She lived and she died trusting in her Lord and Savior. Family members include her daughters: Willene Parker, her husband Raymond, Carolyn Taylor, her husband Ronnie; grandchildren: Diane Jarrett, her husband, Rusty, Patti Chavous and Ronda Taylor; great-grandchildren: Russell Jarrett, his wife Ruth, Ashley Rodwell, her husband Chris, Rob Chavous, Kristen Chavous and Justin Taylor; great-grandchildren: Caroline Mills Rodwell and Will Jarrett; sister-in-law: Helen Mills and a niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother: Gordon Mills and sister: Lilly Mills. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Mike Klaus officiating. Interment will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Warthen, GA. If so desired memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
