AUGUSTA, Ga. - Joan Fountain Phillips, 69, of Augusta, GA and formerly of Rabun County, GA, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. She was born in Rabun County, GA and was the daughter of John Fort Fountain and Lois Cunningham Fountain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Fountain, Roy Fountain, Donnie Fountain, Bob Fountain; and a sister, Ruth Southards. She is survived by her loving husband, Doyle D. Phillips; a son, Barry S. Phillips of Simpsonville, SC; a daughter, Rhonda M. Loring of Augusta, GA; a brother, Bill Fountain of Mountain City, GA; and two sisters, Helen Wall of Clayton, GA and Martha Fountain of Clayton, GA. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Cooper and Kendall Phillips; Daughter-in law, Stacy B. Phillips; Son-in-law, Walter S. Loring. The family received friends at Beck Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Services were held at Blue Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 1 PM with Rev. James Turpin officiating. Burial followed in Blue Heights Cemetery.
