Comments from our readers.

RICHMOND COUNTY says its school system paddled less than 10 kids last year. Now, look at juvenile crime in Augusta; in fact, at all crime since most are committed by people who went through the school system in the past 30 years, the same beginning point as President Carter's unconstitutional usurping of state control of public schools.

THE NEW MARKETING director for the James Brown Arena says, "I need to find every creative way I can to be seen, to get into people's homes and ... their pockets." Odd that she forgot to mention getting good entertainment, the easiest kind to market.

ILLINOIS' GOVERNOR AND Obama were reared by the same political machine. Who do you expect them to be? Little Bo Peep?

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK First Baptist Church ... They helped us with our power bill.. Susan is an ANGEL there ... THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!

TO THE PEOPLE ranting against jails and libraries in comparison to the Augusta Lynx and Botanical Gardens: Your priorities in life are screwed up! Keeping sports and plants alive in sacrifice of much needed jail space and library books and resources ... I pity any kids you all raise!

MY FAMILY HAS LIVED in our house since 1982 and as of now any and all equity we built into for our retirement is totally gone. The reason is the greed of the Columbia County commission who is willing to allow business to build adjacent to established family developments.

IT USED TO BE in Third World countries that when a bank went broke, they executed the banker. Needless to say, not many banks went broke. What do we do? We give them a third of a billion dollars and a golden parachute?

A RAVE FOR Peach Orchard Tire and Auto and Rick, Keller, James and all of the gentlemen that work there.

I JUST WANTED TO do a rave for the Ramblin' Rhodes column. I've enjoyed that column for so many years. Being a big music fan myself, I just think we've been fortunate to have that column in the Augusta paper all these years and I look forward to seeing that every week on Thursday.
