High School Basketball</p>

Players' statistics are due Today

Individual basketball player statistics are due today at 4 p.m., no exceptions.

The Augusta Chronicle will publish a listing of area leaders in the following basketball categories: scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots. Area leaders will be listed in averages per game in all applicable categories.

Nominations for area player of the week for both boys and girls will be due at this time. Please include any applicable statistics to support the nomination. The weekly stats and area players of the week will run each Friday.

College Basketball

Pacers stay No. 2; Jags drop to No. 10

USC Aiken remained No. 2 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll while Augusta State dropped from No. 3 to No. 10 after its first loss of the season.

USC Aiken (6-0) has been No. 2 for all four weeks of the regular season poll. Augusta State is 6-1.

The USC Aiken women (7-2) dropped a spot in the poll to No. 18.

Golf

Hall of Fame event scheduled Jan. 10

The 2009 Georgia Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Jan. 10 at Augusta Marriott Hotel & Suites.

Former PGA Tour winner and Masters Tournament participant Larry Hinson is among the four inductees. Hinson, of Douglas, Ga., played the tour from 1968-76 and won the 1969 Greater New Orleans Open Invitational. He played in the Masters from 1970-72, with his best finish coming in 1971 when he was 30th.

The other inductees are Johnny Paulk , of Jekyll Island, Ga., Darwin White , of Key Biscayne, Fla., and the late Perry Adair, of Atlanta.

Paulk is the former head pro at Jekyll Island Golf Club, where he started in 1988. He won numerous club pro awards and has been a public address announcer at the Masters Tournament since 1979. He currently works the 18th green at Augusta National Golf Club.

White grew up in Atlanta and was a club pro in Alabama. He moved back to Atlanta to be the pro at Lakeside Country Club and later Indian Hills Country Club. He won the senior division of the Georgia PGA Championship six times between 1973-80.

Adair was a contemporary of Bobby Jones and grew up playing with him at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Adair went on to win two Southern Amateur titles and the 1922 Georgia Amateur. He's in the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame.

Volleyball

USC Aiken trio are on academic team

USC Aiken players Danielle Spice, Lauren Cedeno and Whitney Tabbert have been named to the Peach Belt Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team.

Olympics

British volleyball is in need of funding</p>

As the economic crisis cuts into funding for sports, the international volleyball federation wants the British government to bail out the nation's Olympic teams ahead of the 2012 London Games.

FIVB president Wei Jizhong told Sebastian Coe , chairman of the London 2012 organizing committee, it is "imperative" that the government help fund volleyball and beach volleyball for the next four years.

Auto Racing

Robby Gordon to drive for Toyota

Robby Gordon will switch to Toyota in 2009, his fourth manufacturer change in four years.

Gordon was with General Motors in 2006, switched to Ford the next year to receive greater support, then abruptly moved to Dodge at the start of this season in a technical alliance with Gillett Evernham Motorsports.

That partnership was dissolved late this season, freeing Gordon to align with Toyota.
