Father's death leaves big hole

  • Follow Metro

A Grovetown mother wants a happy Christmas for her two daughters, whose father died last month after being hospitalized for several weeks.

"It's hard, and it's going to be hard," she wrote. "I just want my girls to wake up to a few gifts under the tree. They really need a winter coat."

The Augusta Chronicle's Empty Stocking Fund has helped people in need for 78 years. Last year, the charity raised a record-breaking $123,000, which went to more than 1,776 families.
