"Most of us are turned off by the corruption on both sides." All except the ones who continue to vote for the corrupt politicians time after time after time.
Your editorial on William Jefferson was quite deceptive.
First of all, when this first came to light the Republicans were in charge of Congress. Why did you not mention that? What was Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert's response to the FBI taking documents to further the corruption case against Jefferson? He decried the seizure and demanded Jefforson's documents back.
At the time, Duke Cunningham, Republican, was under suspicion of corruption. He has since been convicted.
The Democratic Party in the House removed Jefferson from his committees. The Democratic Party backed another candidate in 2006, hoping to unseat him.
Both parties are corrupt. But when you use selective facts to paint a false picture of non-corrupt Republicans against corrupt Democrats you don't serve your readers. Most of us are turned off by the corruption on both sides.
We would love to see someone honestly report corruption on both sides, not for cheap political gain, but to actually work at getting rid of corruption in politics -- something that should be the job of newspapers, but since most of them have sold their soul to be nothing but political outlets (on both sides), no one respects them. No one buys them.

Mick, Democrates get a free ride on corruption. Remeber the guy dancing in the toilet. The fellow texting pages, Tom Delay, etc. Jefferson lived through all that. Now nobody mentions the the fellow in Il is a DEMOCRAT!
Ooh, poor timing for a letter about corruption and the Dems. Shhh!
Mick Travis, you can't deny that when Repubs are suspected as being corrupt, they loose constituency support and when Dems are shown to be corrupt, they seem to gain constituency support. This is just about the only difference between the two major parties.
In Ak only 3,724 more voted for the Dem than the crook Stephens. It seems like if the Reps were so honest, it wouldn't have been close. In 1994 Oliver North (drug runner and traitor for selling weapons to our enemy-Axis of Evil Iran) raised over 20 million dollars and only lost the Senate seat in NC 46% to 43%. Why did all the squeaky clean Reps support North? Schrenko,Williams, Burmeister-Other than Williams, the other 2 could probably win in Col County now.
Funnie Armie, even a blind squirrel finds a not. Because the brothers weren't willing to return to the poles to vote for Jefferson, the responsible citizens of his district voted him out. He didn't lose any support from his supporters because of his actions, he just didn't have time to bribe them back to the polls.
Confused TechLover, Stephens was winning by a HUGE margin and then lost to a Dem in a conservative state. Your lies about Oliver North are as baseless now as they were when he was acquitted of any wrong doing. Schrenko, Williams and Burmeister were removed from office.
Corruption is rife in both parties, unfortunately. The reason the media loves to point out the party affiliation when it is a Republican is because we preach morality & the high ground, while Democrats don't. The reason thay tend not to mention it when party affiliation when it is a Democrat is because that is the party of choice for most of the media. But we're getting sidetracked here. It is the corruption that is the problem, not the party or the reporting. Vote wisely.
Corruption is rife in politics because it mirrors society. I am sure all of you are corrupt-after all you probably voted for Obama. Fortunately I'm a saint and salt of the earth so no corrupt or unethical behaviors here. I must have a brain defect to be so dang honest and altruistic since it is such a rare anomaly. I don't know how you all live with yourselves. hee, hee, hee. Isn't that right Puttz ole man.
Biz...I can't imagine what it would be like not to be right. Or perfect. Can you? How I pity the nasses.....lol
It is a burden for us to endure. And believe me you don't make a lot of friends being right all the time. hee, hee, hee.
Well back to trying to [filtered word] off the pet lovers in the Vick article. I just love Christmas.
Murtha protected Tip O,Neal by derailing an investigation, Murtha called the Marines in Hiadetha cold blooded murders, he is still serving and was re elected. Pelosi gets upset with the auto makers for using corperate jets, but has her owen special jet to fly her to California. The Dems should not get a free ride because Pelosi ran on ending the "CULTURE OF CORRUPTION" Time for her to clean her own hen house! Harry Reid has been involved a suspect land deals in Navada with Mafia ties. Why does he get a pass?
Do we all remember the senator that was convicted of 140 charges that was re-elected senator? Does the name Walker not remind the intelligent voters of the area; of those who voted to put this convicted senator back in office? This could be the reason that informed voters think there should be some kind of a test for qualifications to vote. Uninformed voters making decisions for the majority, does not make sense.
PT: North was mistakingly given immunity. He should have been in front of the firing squad. My point was, even if they did lose, why was it so close if all the good Republicans are so righteous? converted: they tried that.Poll tax, literacy tests. Welcome to the old South.
techlover, you must learn the new republican language.what the dictionary tells us is different to them.when a demo commits a crime it's unforgiving and the person should be crucified, when a repuke does it,it's just a mistake.(2)when a repuke girl gets pregnant out of wedlock,it's a Godsend, when demo girls do it,they should have their tubes tied.(3)when a retard president starts a criminal war, kills over 4,000 soldiers, runs the economy in the ground, that's not the retards fault,it's everyone elses.39 more days and this trash will be gone.i think we can all agree that's a simple bipartisan word "finally!"
fd.. Your lack of intelligence is showing. Guess you would have had a problem with the test for qualifications to vote.
Reports show that this election had the least informed voters of any previous elections.
Try stating facts and not generalities.
fd, now you do know the difference in Sarah and Tina, don't you?
Immorality has no race, gender, or address..... One is a fool to believe that political affiliation supercedes corruption. Immorality in politics is a problem. Power and money are lethal ingredients that are in the DNA of every politician. Obama & McCain will live to disappoint us if we hold them in careless esteem. Remember this forever before choosing to defend anyone just because of where they live, what their profession, and especially their race. Immorality has no race, gender, or address.
Nope, fd1962. Not going to tell you. I'm assuming you know who said what.
