You'll get no argument from this corner, Ms. Guarnieri. I think he should be used as the target to train attack dogs. Dogs are helpmates for people; protectors; companions; not fodder for some deranged "Sport"...
I am furious! Michael Vick skates on animal cruelty charges in Virginia He gets to move to a halfway house soon.
In an article in the Augusta Chronicle , "League should ban Vick for good," the writer refers to a confidential report that was released the prior week; Vick would put family pets in the ring against fighting dogs and laugh as they got mauled to death! Vick slammed a dog to the ground several times, breaking its neck or back until dead! I cried when I read this.
According to Black's Law Dictionary, the definition of animal cruelty is as follows: an unjustifiable act causing pain, suffering or death.
Someone please explain to me how on God's green Earth Michael Vick did not get charged with animal cruelty? Vick confessed to hurting and killing animals. How do they sleep at night?
Recently Michael Vick "apologized" again. Not once did he apologize for murdering dogs; again, he mentioned kids and family. And what about Jesus? When the story broke, Vick claimed he "found" Jesus. I guess he lost Him again.
I've written to the judges and wardens relating to this case. I've written to Michael Vick at Leavenworth. I made him a lovely card pictured with pit bulls telling him how well the Falcons are doing without him and thanking him for all those hundreds of thousands of his money going to the care of the 47 pit bulls rescued from his death trap.
I believe Vick should be banned from the league for life. I believe Vick should have been sentenced in dog years too.
If Vick returns and gets endorsement contracts, I will boycott whatever company pays him because in my eyes they would be condoning his actions. I will also write to those companies. I will never forget.
A leopard never changes its spots. Some of you may be fooled by Vick, but I'm not.

You said it, Beth. I hope those who rightly condemn Vick will look to their own neighborhoods and communities and try to alleviate some of the animal suffering that goes on there. Don't let your animal roam the neighborhood, where he can be hit by a car. Don't keep your dog chained all day and night with 5 ft. of chain and an empty or turned over water dish. Don't pass by that emaciated stray wandering in the street! There are organizations here to help you help them. Get your family involved and you can teach your children a wonderful lesson about TRUE respect for life and for the creatures for whom we should be faithful stewards.
justus4, condemning Vick may be motivated by racism in some quarters, but understand this: There are people who loathe the man and think his sentence too light NOT because they are racist, but because they value dogs and know they should never be pawns in someone's greedy bloodsport. I voted for Obama and support affirmative action and civil rights initiatives, yet that ANY person, regardless of skin color, could perpetrate and promote that kind of utter cruelty is unconscionable! There are black and white people involved here, and I say: THROW 'EM IN PRISON (I'd rather see them treated the way they treated the dogs in their "care", but we're supposed to be a civilized nation.)
"Fake love of animals"????? Honey, if you can't love a dog, you're a stunted, impoverished excuse for a human being.
Well said BethG...justus4 your comments are never faltering in showing your little racist behind...
justus4, perhaps you are the one who can't look past the brotha in this. it's a fact that we play the odds against laws... some of us get caught, others not. whatcha think about the OJ verdict?? is that another ploy against brothahood, or simply enforcement of law??
This may be the one and only time christian134 and I agree on something. :-)
Beth, Micheal Vick was wrong and paid for it with loss of fortune, loss of fame, loss of his job, and loss of freedom. I don't see how you can say he skated on the charges. Micheal Vick didn't murder an animal, because only people can be murdered. While I appreciate your point of view in relation to animals, they are just animals. Projecting emotion on the animal doesn't move it up the food chain. Your extreme and radical perspective is shared by some people, but not all. Laws protecting animals exist, but no legal definition places animals on a level with people. Micheal Vick isn't a child molester. His perspective toward animals can easily be changed. Your comment about the spotted leopard don't apply.
One dictionary definition of murder is "to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously". That's what Vick did and ordered his minions to do. There was torture involved. The food chain, eh... you're such a warm and fuzzy piece of work, PT. And I, and others who dedicate time and money to supporting animal causes (as well as opening our homes to them), are not projecting our emotions onto the animals. THEY FEEL PAIN. They are capable of forming relationships (unlike a fetus, for example). They, like children (the born kind) rely on our good will and simple humanity. It's got nothing to do with the food chain.
First of all, I don't see any high profile company publicly supporting Vick because of the grotesque nature of his crimes. As for a return to the NFL, I don't necessarily see that either, for the exact same reasons. All the talent in the world is not going to motivate a team owner to voluntarily endure the boycotts, picketts and public outcry that will result from paying Vick even the minimum NFL salary. At most I see Vick's future in a low key arena ball league. As for all the racism accusations - WOW! His rise to fame in the NFL and decision to exploit that status further wherever possible is what made him a target, not his color. His crimes were horribly cruel and dispicable. Ironically, I heard more people defend him based on the race card then I heard people comdemn him based on it.
yes, midwest, I can tell by your opinion of infanticide that you're warm and fuzzy. good post, so typical
Michael Vick and Justus4 are both idiots.
They are friggin dogs. All breeds are descended from domesticated wolf pairs. Without us they wouldn't be here. It is has been a neccessity for man to take something out of nature and mutate to fit his needs. It is one thing to domesticate crops and cattle for food, and dogs were breed for functions like hunting and protection, but nowadays hunting is a pleasure and most breeds are just pets. I am sick of people anthropomorphing their friggin animals into humans. No different from stepping on a worm or running over a frog-animals die. All you pet fiends have a passion for dominating lowly animals for your own pleasure. Now that is sick. hee, hee, hee. Stir, stir, stir. Cats and dogs are good for dissections in teaching anatomy. They use to be a cheap resource for schools, but now they apparently have Constitutional rights. LOL.
Vick is paying for his actions. After serving his term he should be allowed to make a living. Now you make equate human life with those of an animal, however I do not. You have murders, rapists and child molesters that after serving their time, go on and are allowed to make a living. You can rant all you wish but Fluffy life is not equal to Timothy's.
PT, your 6:41 AM comment was right on point. As a pet owner and just as a human being what took place was appalling, however you cannot place an animal on the same level as a human being.
And therein lies the overwhelming wrongs of our judicial system Hypo...Studies have proven that a person who takes delight in causing pain and death to animals is not to far removed from committing an act of violence on a child or adult...Neither one is right...The sorrows of this whole affair is that the child killer-molester will be allowed to return to society...Vick's heinous acts are more heinous as he, like other sports figures, are supposed to be role models whether or not they wish it...
Some animal rights groups go too far. PETA for example. Others like the ASPCA are right on. PT: It seems you have never had the love and devotion of a pet, or felt the same to them. I feel sorry for you. Right now I have a dog lying in the chair next to me and a small kitten we rescued lying on my chest ( her favorite spot). We have other dogs, cats, and a goat whose mother wouldn't take care of her so we had to bottle feed her. She now looks to both my wife and me as her mother. If there seems to be danger lurking ( the dogs bark at something in the woodsvfor example), she stands between our legs just like they do with their mothers. Yes animals have feelings, and can feel and give love.
I understand dog is quite tasty. Rats and bats too. And who doesn't love frog legs. Christian is correct-studies do support those who would abuse an animal (because we have morphed them into human-like creatures) would also likely harm a human. I am sure goats, pigs, cows, and chickens have feelings too, but it won't stop me from eating them. You people tend to put a strange and capricious spin on loving certain animals. Not a whole lot of spider and reptile lovers, but they make great pets too. I had a pet skunk, squirrel, snakes, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, turtles, fish, hmmmm what am I forgetting. I know PETA goes crazy when a someone squashes a spider or kills a snake.
Obviously, I DO NOT support infanticide (an inept allusion to the smear campaign being waged against Obama, who doesn't support infanticide, either). The difference between live dogs and fetuses is agency. Dogs have agency, however limited. Fetuses can't decide anything. And yes, I'm a vegetarian, as is my entire family (husband and two children BY CHOICE, not coercion). So, I'm perfectly aware that cows and chickens have feelings, too, Bizarro (an apt name for you). I'm with TechLover. We have four dogs, all rescues. To equate them with "worms" (which I wouldn't go out of my way to step on, either) is ludicrous. My daughter is studying to be a veterinarian. I'm always amazed at how some so-called "pro-life" people can be so indifferent to nonhuman suffering.
No one is saying that you cannot love animals but IMHO you are going too far to equate them with humans. Study will probably show that those who abuse animals may also drink, do drugs or smoke cigarettes. Do we throw drinkers, drug abusers and smokers in jail for the rest of their lives? NO! We judge each crime according to the elements involved.
In some parts of the world people eat cat dogs and cats. I agree with Pat, Bizarro and Hypocoties, an animal is not in the same league as a human. I love my dog, and would never do anything to hurt him, do I love him in the same way I love my child? No. Would I expect the law to give a person who killed him the same punishment as they would get from killing a child? No. I think the penalty against Vick could have been a harder but life goes on and hopefully his opinion about animal cruelty has changed through all of this, give him a chance, when a person has done their time they should not have to suffer forever for it.
Why on God's earth should Michael Vick not return to football. I wont watch him play but others will. Let us hope that he has learned a lesson and will never again harm a living creature. And please, don't come back to the Falcons.
Michael Vick should NEVER be allowed to play in any sports, period. Since he holds no true value on life, whether it is a defenseless animal or a human, he does not deserve the privilege of playing in public games. I think his apology is merely a reflection of his being caught, not because he has offended anyone. Pete Rose was banned from baseball for life after he was caught gambling; why should Vick think he is any better?
Its always about the N word to those that want something for nothing....Just think, they would be in a lions belly somewhere if things in the past didn't happen, no matter how bad. Look forward Justus.....not back.
You need to take some biology courses Midwest. Suffering and competition are natures way. Also ad hominems nor sarcasm are an argument. Worms are tasty too.
What Vick did to animals is barbaric and no matter how any one wishes to spin it deserves punishment fitting the act. That said, I would not begrudge the man from earning a living, but preferably in an arena where he would not again be seen as a role model for our youth.
Michael Vick = THUG Justus4 = IDIOT
Michael Vick should NOT return to the NFL. He is a sick, demented sadist, and I for one, do not want to watch a Sunday football game and be reminded of starved, fought, beaten, electrocuted, dead puppies.
He can make a living, nobody is stopping him. Can he say "do you want fries with that?" If so, he can get a job, just NOT in the NFL.
He may return, but IF he does, Karma will take a chunk out of his backside. There are plenty of dog lovers in the NFL, and MV is likely to be turned into a drooling veg in a game one Sunday, which couldn't happen too soon in my opinion.
He's NOT human. He gave up that right when he chose to torture and mutilate dogs for his FUN.
Ya'll don't understand. Black folks view dogs differently than white people. A black person would never let a dog sleep in their bed or lick them on the mouth. White folks seem to have this unnatural attraction to dogs. It's a fact.
