Man shot in the back is in critical condition
An Augusta man was in critical condition Wednesday after being shot in the back Tuesday night.
Kevin Rodriguez Tanksley, 27, of the 1900 block of Haynie Drive, was arguing with Lance Lampkin, 26, at an apartment on Baywood Drive when the two pulled out handguns, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report.
Police said Mr. Tanksley's gun wasn't loaded, so he tried to persuade Mr. Lampkin to have a fist fight instead. As the two lowered their weapons, Mr. Lampkin fired, the report said.
As Mr. Tanksley ran from the scene, Mr. Lampkin fired again and struck him in the lower back, the report said.
Mr. Tanksley was being treated at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

When the victim arrived at his home in Ramblewood Apartments on Jeanine Way, he discovered that his neighbor, Kenneth Wesley Roberts, 19, had cut a hole through the wall leading to his apartment and was attempting to steal small electronic items, the report said.
Mr. Roberts was charged with one count of burglary, according to sheriff's Investigator Alton Creech.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is looking for a North Augusta man who pulled a shotgun on his girlfriend in a Nov. 29 fight.

Mr. Baskett fled the scene when his girlfriend got the gun and fired several rounds at him.
Warrants for Mr. Baskett's arrest accuse him of high and aggravated criminal domestic violence.

Girl, boys suspended for year for sex acts
A Glenn Hills Middle School girl and the five boys she had oral sex with on campus were suspended for the remainder of the school year, according to tribunal reports.
The girl had claimed that she was forced to go outside with the boys after school, but a surveillance camera showed her going willingly, the reports said. The five boys, ages 13 and 14, formed a line behind a portable classroom. All of the boys engaged in oral sex, and one pupil also had intercourse with her.
The pupils' suspensions could be reduced to the remainder of the school year at the alternative school if they agree to follow the rules there.
Pupils out for school year for car break-ins
Five Tutt Middle School pupils were suspended for the remainder of the school year for breaking into cars at Westside High School in October, according to disciplinary reports.
Their punishment could be reduced to the remainder of the year at the alternative school if they agree to follow the rules there, the reports said. Their stints at the alternative school could be longer, however.
The pupils, all of whom face nine felony charges, must remain at the alternative school until their criminal cases are resolved.
The pupils were breaking into cars using a baseball bat while the Westside football team was at an away game, the reports said. They were later arrested at Tutt by a sheriff's office investigator. The pupils were 14 and 15 years old.

DOE approves cut in work force at SRS
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and Washington Savannah River Co. received approval Wednesday from the Department of Energy to begin a program that would reduce the size of their work force at Savannah River Site.
Employees of both companies received letters about a plan that would allow those who are eligible to voluntarily leave the site with a severance package.
Dean Campbell, spokesman for WSRC, said that "given the current site mission we do out here, we have a skill-mix issue -- too many for one skill and not enough of another."
WSRC is hoping to correct this imbalance by giving employees the opportunity to take part in the self-select program, which offers one week of pay for each year employed for up to 26 years.

School board upholds firing of bus driver
The Richmond County Board of Education upheld the firing Wednesday of a school bus driver accused of a long list of infractions, including using racial slurs and profanity, speeding and faking a heart attack to get the attention of students.
Fred Hall argued, however, that none of that happened and that he performed his job appropriately.
He serves as an officer in his neighborhood association and as a trustee at his church.
Superintendent Dana Bedden said there are 26 incidents in Mr. Hall's personnel file, including speeding tickets, which had been investigated in the past few years, and his firing was the culmination of a record of bad behavior.

I love the idea of suspending 10 teenagers from school for the next 6 months so they can run the streets and commit crimes all the while not being truant. Why not send them to in school suspension and make them stare at a white wall all day? Make tiny cubicles just big enough for a student and desk. Give them all their work for the day and then feed them at their desk too. They get to school they go to their desk and stay in that room all day long. Make it punishment to get in trouble not rewarded with unadulterated vacations! Besides when they get suspended do you really think mommies and daddies will stay home from work to watch the juvenile delinquents? No way they will leave them home alone to do whatever they please.
I wonder if the bus driver is the same one who drove the Quail Hollow? Woodlake route?
No school for a year? Guess they have plenty of time for more oral sex. These school officials have lost their minds. The freaks in government these days are nothing but elected tyrants. Free country my [filtered word]. The simple fact that this story even appears in the Chronicle belies any notion that the board of education cares about our children. As usual, when given an opportunity to teach these kids, the board of education simply denies them any education at all. A YEAR for having oral sex? How about we demand the resignation of all school officials connected to this decision for being insensitive to the needs of the adolescent members of our society. How is this news worthy anyway? Our children are not fodder for headlines or stepping stones for careers. Let's bring back people who actually care about children and their educations.
UPS has tracking numbers, but a lot of the time they dont require signatures. So all the driver has to do is report that he dropped it off, and bam, he can say someone else must have taken it. Just ask the JA who stole the golf clubs off my porch (alledgedly). Luckily PayPal has protection.
Another big THANK YOU to former President Bill Clinton for teaching kids that oral sex IS NOT sex.
usvet would you have this story covered up??? However I agree they should have to attend school and take extra courses on STD..and HIV and be required to write extensive papers on the subjects they should also be required to take a course in self esteem and learn something they have not learned at home....And they should have to report daily to a counsler or teacher to prove they are complying... (providing of course the teacher and counsler are not behaving in the same manner as the kids....sigh)
Well I feel real good about UPS delivering Christmas packages this year...not !! And officials should check Ebay for the lighting fixtures maybe...
Five boys and one girl, that makes you a HO sweetie. Anyone got any Listerine? This girl sounds like a young Bette Middler. Who's next? The football team? Lined 'em up? Sounds line an Assembly line worker. Monica would be SO proud.
Our UPS packages come out of the Camak, GA warehouse and all the guys there have worked there forever and are very trustworthy and dependable. If the rest of UPS ran as good as they do, they wouldn't have any competition. Same goes for the FED EX employees that deliver to our area. They all do outstanding jobs and have been with their companies forever. This UPS employee must have been an exception to the rule - there truly is one in every crowd.
While I hope Mr Tanksley recovers, i think he learned a big lesson on guns. Just because yours is empty, doesnt mean everyone elses are. what a maroon. He is lucky Darwin didnt win this one.
The UPS Guy was from Evans, guess the Ghetto is moving on up, to the west side............LOL.
None of these kids are getting off scott-free. "The pupils' suspensions could be reduced to the remainder of the school year at the alternative school if they agree to follow the rules there." You can bet your last dollar that the parents will agree to the rules of the alternative school. There should be no worry about truancy.
I had to laugh about the guy whose girlfriend took his shotgun away and returned fire on him. Domestic violence is serious, but that lady stood her ground.
I guess Kenneth Roberts thought he could put a big enough hole in adjoining wall of his apartment and his neighbor's so that he could walk right in, steal electronics, and then patch the hole so no one would know. That was real smart! NOT!!!
Those kids should have gotten a belt and then giving the facts of life. I think kids will continue to miss behave because they have nothing to fear. The courts are not going to do anything, the parents are not going to do anything, next time they are jacking somebody up in the street or stealing from someone.
Nothing that they haven't seen on TV Rupret. Just goes to show what kids are "studying" these days. As far as the facts of life.......I think they got that one....down pat. And as for your last line Rupret.....a poor choice of words. And yes, what the President does, is of Consequence. And slick willie is off somewhere living it up on our dime. I wonder if the Secret Service has him surrounded with female agents? I hope they're as ugly as the ones he's used too. Those PIGs wore lipstick. Some one obviously didn't tell them otherwise.
and people have the gall to ask me why i'm cynical? read these articles above.case closed.
"IF THEY AGREE TO THE RULES......"??????? What the.......???
Why do they have a choice?
To the naysayers that claim there are no problems with crime in the Baywood Drive area and they leave their doors unlocked all the time. Look above. I got shivers when I read this, because someone at a business had told me yesterday morning that he had a relative that was shot and killed by another relative about 11 years ago when I told him about my relative's recent death. I had a slip of the tongue and accidentally shortened what I meant to say to him into, "Was the last name Tanksley, I mean Tankersley?" When I heard later in the day that this Tanksley was shot after I had said that, it gave me the shudders. Very odd coincidence, especially considering I used to live very close by to where this shooting occurred. My condolences to the families that have lost sons, brothers, etc.. The victim is in danger of being lost, the shooter is now lost in another way as well. We need to pray for all endangered souls. God doesn't like losing souls this way (or any way). I hope they are held accountable, yet repent so that their souls may be saved. I hope Tanksley lives and they both turn their lives around.
Harrison had a good job but he couldnt control himself.... I hope they give him a long time to think about his mucked up morals!!!!! You could care less about ruining someone else's Christmas as long as you get yours... [filtered word]!!!! When the only job you can get is at the burger shack.... remember what got you there!!!!
The UPS guy changed the shipping labels. When it was tracked by the rightful owner it would show that it was delivered to the wrong address. Not a huge leap to know it's stolen when it's a UPS employee address
I would hope someone, somewhere will get help for the young girl who, apparently, willingly went along with five boys in order to give them all oral sex and had intercourse with one. She is just a child and I can't help but wonder what is so wrong in her life that she would lower herself to do such a thing? I realize many children that age have sexual relationships - but this poor thing let them line up and treat her like a piece of trash. Something is terribly wrong here, she needs some serious help.
Why are young men (and old) allowed to treat women so badly. What a distasteful (pun intnded!) act to have someone commit for your personal enjoyment. Shame on all who participate. AS the Rev says, your chickens will come home to roost.
"this poor thing let them line up and treat her like a piece of trash." "Why are young men (and old) allowed to treat women so badly. What a distasteful (pun intnded!) act to have someone commit for your personal enjoyment. Shame on all who participate." "The girl had claimed that she was forced to go outside with the boys after school, but a surveillance camera showed her going willingly." Yes, willingly. 13-14 yr old boys. I'm suprised there weren't more volunteers for that action.
My child would be ILLITERATE before I sent them to public school where GOD is not allowed!!!!
Well, I am in the mountains with a bunch of lunitic friends from school. Looks like Ihave more going on here than the entire CRSA, except for maybe the five 'boys' from Glenn Hills.
You have to put some of the blame on the women dani in all fairness... the men couldn't do it this day in age if the women didnt want it!!! Just like how people say men exploit women by owning strip clubs or going to them... uhmmm hello the women choose to work there and show thier stuff for money they arent forced. If women are treated badly these days they have more than 1 option for getting out of the situation or not putting themselves in it to begin with. Sad to see a young girl have such low self esteem that she would do this though!! Some men are pigs and we all know this, but there would be less pigs out there if there weren't so many women putting up with it and condoning and encouraging it!! So you can't treat all women as victims of piggish men when its what they enjoy and choose to do. Most men if you put choclate cake in thier face on a buffet they are going to eat it so to speak!!!!! lol, while I dont agree with them, if they both consent, to each his own!! lol
All of these "children" have parents that SHOULD be teaching them some things at home, like MORALS
Give me a break nosmokeandmirrors, they have the girl on tape going freely. These little fast girls know what they are doing. When this happened with the Evans middle school girl with the boys from Evans High School my daughter said the girl was at school bragging about what she did and I personally spoke to one of the guys who had been at the house earlier that evening and he said she offered it to him and he left, he had sense enough to know he could get in trouble. And please don't assume that the parents haven't talked to the kids, you don't know that, when it comes to sex they are going to do what they want to do, even when they know better.
