WAYCROSS, Ga. - Glenelle Bryant, 90 years old, of Waycross, Ga., formerly of Augusta, entered into rest at Satilla Regional Medical Center of Waycross on November 30, 2008. She was born in Summitt, Ga. to the late Frank E. Bryant and Marjorie Daniel Bryant on September 8, 1918. She was a member of the Silvercrest Baptist Church in Augusta. Survivors include two nieces, Angela Walker of Eastman and Teresa Bryant of Fla.; three nephews, Wade Bryant of Atlanta, Don Bryant of Augusta, and Douglas Bryant of Eastman. Her aunt realized her artistic abilities and in the late forties, sent her to Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla. After graduating, she became employed by the Health, Education, and Welfare Department in Washington, D.C. as an artist. Her artistic ability amazed those who had the opportunity to see any of her work. Later, she went to work as a graphic artist for the State Department in Washington. Glenelle drew news cartoons for syndicated newspapers during World War II. In 1966, she left her career in artwork in Washington due to the illness of her mother. She worked in Augusta at University Hospital as a unit secretary. When Glenelle's health prevented her from taking care of her sister, Bebe, they moved to Baptist Village Nursing Center in Waycross, where her sister passed away a short time later. She was given much support by the staff at Baptist Village and was gradually able to return to her artwork. Her drawings and paintings will continue to be a lasting memorial. Memorialization is by cremation. Music Funeral Home of Waycross is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Baptist Village Healthcare Center, 2650 Carswell Avenue, Waycross, Ga. 31503.
