An Evans family is asking for help this holiday because of mounting bills resulting from the illness of a child.
"Our daughter was born June 13 with multiple birth defects, including spina bifida," they write. "She has been hospitalized several times since birth -- the last time for 15 days."
Her mother had to quit work to care for her daughter and take her to frequent doctor appointments, and this has left the family struggling financially.
This family would appreciate help this season not only to pay bills, but also to give their older daughter something nice for the holiday.
The Augusta Chronicle's Empty Stocking Fund has helped people in need for 78 years. Last year, the charity raised a record-breaking $123,000, which went to more than 1,776 families.
