Man being sought on child cruelty charge
Police are searching for a man wanted on a charge of cruelty to children.
A Richmond County sheriff's report says that Nathan Donald Johnson entered a 16-year-old's bedroom and struck her in the mouth with his fist after an argument over the phone. He then started to choke her with his hands, according to the report.
The girl's mother heard the scuffle and intervened, pulling Mr. Johnson off the victim, the report said. The suspect fled before police arrived.

- Lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday on both sides of Bobby Jones Expressway between Interstate 20 and Wheeler Road.
- Drivers should expect lane closures on both sides of I-20 between Davis and Wheeler roads from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday.
- The ramp from Bobby Jones Expressway West to I-20 West will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. A detour will be in place.
- Wheeler Road will be closed between Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway, Marks Church Road and Perimeter Parkway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Traffic will be detoured using Wrightsboro Road and Bobby Jones west to Wheeler Road. Sheriff's deputies will be directing traffic for short intervals.
COLUMBIA COUNTY
- Work crews will close the Lewiston Road entrance ramp to I-20 westbound from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Dec. 16 for repaving work, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release. Detours will be in place.

NO EXCUSE FOR ABUSE! Domestic violence is a crime regardless of whom it is perpetrated against.
The article does not clarify this man's relationship to the 16 year old. Whatever the relationship is there is no excuse for his action. Just shows what kind of cowards a lot of males, not men are.
Way to go Chronicle, on your great reporting of the story..Once again, we are left with minimal details. How old is Nathan Donald Johnson? What does he look like? Why print an article about the police searching for him, if you can't give the public any details about him.

I wouldn't want to be raising a 16 year old in today's world. I would imagine that if most parents were honest, they have all felt like doing that at one time or another. Thank God most people have the restraint not to.
