Sorority honor

Kay Roland has been named the 2008-2009 Soror of the Year by the Phi Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc.

102, and counting

Estell Burgess , of Augusta, celebrated her 102nd birthday Nov. 25.

Grassroots support

The following organizations have received funding from the Grassroots Arts Program:

Augusta Training Shop Inc., $850; Lynndale Inc., $1,066; and the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, $1,950.

Also, Boys and Girls Club of Augusta, $700; Hope House Inc, $1,262.74; the Augusta-Richmond County Library, $1,008; and Sacred Heart Cultural Center, $1,304.

Helps children's center

Georgia Power Foundation Inc., working through the Augusta Chapter of the Citizens of Georgia Power, has donated $2,500 to the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center.
