A North Augusta woman raising her four grandchildren asks for help this Christmas.
"I am out on medical leave, and I may have to have an operation after the first of the year," she writes.
"I have custody of my four grandkids and have been out of work since September. I would like to have something for them for Christmas. I just thank God that as young as they are, they shouldn't be hard to please."
For 78 years, assistance from The Augusta Chronicle 's Empty Stocking Fund has helped families like this one. Last year, the charity raised a record-breaking $123,000, which went to more than 1,776 families.
