AUGUSTA, Ga. - William Davis, Jr., 89, loving husband on Mrs. Lelia Frances Gillenwater Davis, entered into rest on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Heartland Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue Chapel, with Dr. Kevin Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Davis was born in Edwardsville, Pa. He retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. Mr. Davis was a veteran of WWII, Vietnam, and the Korean War. He was an active member of National Hills Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Additional survivors include two sons, William Lee Davis and wife, Robyn of Bristol, Tenn., Richard Gary Davis of Augusta; two grandchildren, Edward Allen Davis and wife, Patti of Greenfield, Ind., Holly Dawn Davis Turlington of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four great- grandchildren, Joseph Davis, Michael Davis, Jessica Davis, all of Greenfield, Ind., Devan Paige Jackson of Fayetteville, N.C.
