Keep Broun on; he's right about Obama

  • Follow Letters

U.S. Rep Paul Broun, R-Ga., does not need to be replaced. Several writers have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with Broun for labeling President-elect Barack Obama a Marxist and comparing him to Adolf Hitler. It is apparent these writers are too young or poorly educated to know about World War II and its causes.

Karl Marx's primary goal was to seize property of the wealthy and redistribute it to the poor working class: "From each according to his means, to each according to his needs." Obama said something like this to Joe the plumber on TV.

Comparing Obama to Hitler is historically accurate. One of Hitler's means to control the German people was to form the Gestapo secret police answerable only to him. Obama has made similar statements in the media. Like Hitler, he says he wants a national police force answerable to him.

Hitler also disarmed the German people which is what the U.S. Democratic Party has been trying to do for years. For similar reasons the Democrats and Obama, also like Hitler, are afraid of an armed citizenry rising up against them.

I will add to Broun's so-called "direct insult to voters" the Russian KGB (Committee for State Security), Josef Stalin's secret police. Stalin purged, which is to say he destroyed the lives of millions of people that he declared "undesirable." Does this sound like the recommendation of some Democrats to deal with Rush Limbaugh and other conservative broadcasters?

Why do these issues relate to Obama? Well, he says he wants to have a secret police with a filibuster-proof Congress? No telling what that means in security terms for all Americans -- particularly for those who dissent from Democrats' party line.

Richard E. Hogue, Grovetown

Very well stated. Much will

Very well stated. Much will be revealed regarding Obama's intentions if he supports the "alternative view" movement which is intended to silence the radio talk shows. If that happens, then the morons who voted this imposter into office better start practicing their goose step, better yet, they can incorporate their RAP into it much like the little dead-heads who performed in his campaign.

Broun knows perfectly well

Broun knows perfectly well that President elect Obama was not referring to a "secret police". Broun is doing what radical republicans are good at...using fear, taking a snippet of a speech because he knows folks won't take the time to read or listen to an entire speech. Obama was referring to AmeriCorp. And shock of shocks, Bush in 2003 signed legislation to expand AmeriCorp.
Good Lord, people, research before you blindly believe something. I know most won't take the time, but here's the youtube link to Obama's speech in July: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df2p6867_pw&eurl=http://volokh.com/posts/...

TEharper you might as well

TEharper you might as well save that link because people on this board would rather hear rhetoric from their political party affiliation than get the info on their own. Broun said it so apparently it is so.

U.S. Rep Paul Broun, R-G is an fear mongering idiot. I long for the day when republican leaders (and most of their supporters) come out of their shell and contribute versus living in fear. Their current leader had 8 years to find ways to improve this nation economically and politically. Instead, he did the opposite. Broun needs to shut up, grow a pair and contribute.

Again, he compares Obama to

Again, he compares Obama to Hitler, but Bush has come as close as anyone. He has put the secret police in place. Warrantless wire taps, imprisoning people without trial simply by claiming people he does not like are "terrorists," the Patriot Act, which read's like Hitlers Enabling Act. Really, get a clue.

Barack Obama has never, ever

Barack Obama has never, ever called for a national police force, so that makes Hogue's observations worthless and unfounded. Also, when Obama said we are better when the wealth is spread around he was NOT talking about forcible redistribution, but the need for a more equitable economy. Hogue is woefully ignorant of history, for the fascists and Marxists were ideologically opposed to one another. You can't be both. Still, I'm sure facts and intent don't matter to Hogue, because he is living in his own private world of suspicion and conspiracies.

Do not listen to what Obama

Do not listen to what Obama says, CNN will tell you what Obama meant. You racists need to quit using Obama's words against him. By "...an armed civilian defense force, as well equipped as our military..." he really meant AmeriCorp. Stupid racists, you know what he meant. There are stupid conspiracy freaks in all 57 states.

It is apparent that Mr. Hogue

It is apparent that Mr. Hogue himself is defunct in history. Marx was JEWISH and never once suggested the ethnic cleansing or the Nazi style terrorism that Hitler induced. Neither has Obama. For Broun to suggest a comparison between the two is fear mongering and ignorance at it's best. Nazism and Communism directly oppose each other. Nazis were for the survival of the fittest, while communism meant equality for the masses. While we understand today communism is not the best form of government, most logically thinking individuals understand that socialism, communism, fascism, nazism are not the same thing. Mr. Hogue and Mr. Broun should be embarrassed at their stupidity.

Patricia -get Obama's snippet

Patricia -get Obama's snippet of his speech correct, "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Where in that quote is the word armed? If you're going to quote, do it correctly instead of adding words that were not said.

the gov't in general

the gov't in general (republicans and Democrats) are leading this nation into socialism right under our noses. Take the recent bailout and the up coming automakers bailout, the gov't stands to own quite a chunk of the private sector. No one is even the least bit worried about that? It's easy to spot a dem. They are the ones calling everyone else names that doesn't share their philosphy.

bcs2k, I will be the first to

bcs2k, I will be the first to admit that Bush forgot his conservative roots and allowed the Republican Congress to spend like drunken DIMocRATS. HOwever, he also gave us 6 years of economic growth (GDP), lowest unemployment in history, and our safety from another 9/11, just to name a few achievements you DIMs like to ignore. You DIMs have a habit of ignoring FACTS and the TRUTH. Since controlling Congress, the DIMs have given us a failed Freddie and Fannie and it's resulting economic downward spiral economically, $5.00 gasoline (Bush's fault, but lower gas prices now ain't Bush's oil buddies fault, right?) and unemployment at 7%. NOw ain't that a coincidence.....
