Palin speaks in Augusta today
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is scheduled to be in Augusta today with U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who faces Democrat Jim Martin in Tuesday's runoff election.
Mrs. Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, will speak at 8:30 a.m. at the James Brown Arena, 601 Seventh St. The doors will open at 7:30 a.m.
People were asked to RSVP, but officials indicated they would probably let others in.
Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength said his office would have a presence at the arena.

When to vote
All polling sites will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Voters will be required to show a photo ID.
2 arrested, charged in teen's shooting death
The Burke County Sheriff's Department has arrested two people in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Simpson Tyrone Cates Jr.
Burke County Sheriff Greg Coursey said 22-year-old Christopher Derik Chance, of Jenkins County, and 17-year-old Tray Sapp, of Burke County, have been charged with murder in the death of Mr. Cates.
Mr. Sapp will be charged as an adult.
Mr. Chance and Mr. Cates were cousins.
Mr. Cates' body was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the driver's seat of his mother's car on Ben Bargeron Road about 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
Capt. Frankie Parker said a drug deal was involved in the shooting.
Traffic update
Aiken County
- Crews will be resurfacing the southbound lanes of Richland Avenue between York Street and Vaucluse Road today. There will be some lane closures and detours.
- Gray Mare Hollow Road is completely closed to traffic as work continues. The closure is near Hollow Creek Road.

You would think that as popular as her supporters claims she is, there would be no room left at the Arena for those who failed to RSVP.
My understanding is that Chambliss is at least pro-life. So, Ga Values, he is giving the unborn a chance whereas all those people you seem to be so concerned about experiencing unfair situations ought to be grateful for their very existence and that someone didn't legislate something years ago that allowed that their moms could abort THEM. They've had their shot at life. Vote Saxby and give the unborn a chance at all the "unfairness" that life has to offer, as well as the good times. But to be realistic, as any Christian knows , life has its crosses and no Christian should be complaining against such or they are enemies of the Cross as it is written. As for the rest of you, Jesus really does love you and you should be grateful to Him for each birthday that comes along!

Palin ever insulted you or any of your loved ones in such a way? I think you are a better person than that.
