Possible investor for Lynx emerges

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Augusta Lynx ownership hasn't locked down a new investor or group of investors to save the team, but Charlotte Checkers owner Michael Kahn might be one of the potential investors inquiring about the team. He even had an optimistic tone about the Lynx's future when asked on Sunday evening.

"I think you might see some things happen before Tuesday gets here," Mr. Kahn said. "I'm not going to say anything more than that."

Mr. Kahn confirmed he has spoken daily with Lynx co-owner and general manager Dan Troutman.

"We talked a few minutes this morning. I would love to keep them and help them out any way we can," he said. "If things work out, things will work out. Dan's a good guy. His heart's in the right place and quite honestly his head is, too."

Mr. Troutman wouldn't confirm Mr. Kahn's status as a potential investor.

"We have a very loyal supporter in Michael Kahn," Mr. Troutman said. "I can't confirm or deny anything else."

Mr. Kahn, the vice president and chief operating officer of Empire Distributors Inc, purchased the Checkers in June 2006, according to the Charlotte Checkers' Web site.

The Lynx were in Charlotte on Sunday evening and beat the Checkers 2-1 in a shootout.

Mr. Troutman, along with Lynx co-owner Jan Hodges Burch, said at a news conference on Friday that the Lynx had "a matter of days" to find a new investor or the team might be forced to fold.

Apparently Mr. Kahn likes to throw money away as much as our government does. The lynx should go to Washington and ask for a government bailout.

Man, Chimpo you are a funny guy. Thanks for adding something insightful. Go hang out with the Colts and your boy Bubba.

My son is 2 1/2 years old and recently attended his 1st Lynx hockey game (my families umpteenth!). I was utterly amazed at how he stayed glued to the game the entire time (outside of Louie the Lynx of course). All he's talked about since then is going back. Please don't let the team fold! Please let us fans know if there is anything we can do to help.

Maybe they should ask the guys who owned the Aiken Foxhounds to invest. They should have lots of money, after all its not like they paid any of their bills.

Chimpo or should I say CHUMP. Get a job and quit detracting from every sports entertainment in the CSRA. If you dont' like it then stay home and chase your fellow Monkeys around in a tree. Shut Up and leave the rest of the people that do enjoy it alone.
