COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. - Robbie Loys Walton Morris, age 91, went home to see Jesus on Friday, November 28, 2008. To those who loved her and cherished her, she was known as "Granny." She departed this life as the last of the 9 children of Naomi Antonia Kendrick and Harry Ellis Walton, having been married to the late Louie Morris, Sr. for more than 50 years. She leaves a son, Louie Morris, Jr. (Mary) and a daughter, Naomi Morris Erb (Hank) as well as scores of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Granny considered her children and their Christian upbringing to be her greatest achievement. A native of Columbia County, Georgia; Granny's life was rich in history and she was proud to be a descendent of the Rev. Daniel Marshall, The Honorable Lucius Kendrick, and the George Walton family. Her family will remember above all her strength and her love of the Lord. Always ready to sing her favorite gospel hymns, she reminded all that hers was indeed a "joyful noise." Though her recent illness required the assistance of others, it could not take the independent spirit upon which she relied. She leaves with her family and caregivers the loving reminder to wear red petticoats because you ought to, to dance because you want to, to sing because you need to, and to always "check your speed." Many thanks to Ms. Angela Lokey of Lokey's Personal Care Home, the staff of Lake Crossing Health Center, and Alliance Hospice. A private graveside service will be conducted at Abilene Cemetery on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that memorials be made to the Abilene Cemetery Fund, 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you a place I have prepared."
