HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Melba U. Paul entered into rest and started her journey to Heaven on Saturday, November 29, 2008. The Church service and visitation will be held at Kiokee Baptist Church, Appling, Ga., on Monday, December 1, 2008. The Rev. Steve Hartman of Kiokee Baptist will officiate the service. The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 12:00 and the church service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Following the church service, the funeral procession will go to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, Ga., for a Graveside memorial that will be officiated by Chaplain Dexter Lambert of Trinity Hospice. Melba U. Paul resided on County- Line Rd. in Harlem, Ga. Mrs. Paul was a descendent of the Henry Utley family of Augusta, Ga., but had lived in Columbia County since 1979. She was baptized at Hillcrest Baptist of Augusta and was a member of the Jinx Pollard Senior- Girls Sunday school class at Kiokee Baptist Church, Appling, Ga. Mrs. Paul was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Paul, her father Henry Utley, her mother Nellie Benson Utley and her sister Lavida U. Croft. Survivors include four sons: Thomas A. Paul (Peggy) of Fort Mill, S.C., John C. Paul, Norwood, Ga., Raymond L. Paul (Carol), of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Michael D. Paul (Sandee), of Martinez, Ga.; one daughter Wanda P. Judy (L.J.) of Ladson, S.C; two sisters, Edith U. Wright of Belvedere, S.C., and Gloria U. Mock, of Millen, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Tanya Kukielski, (Matt), Rusty Judy, (Wendy), Candace Baker (Scott), Chad Paul (Jennifer), Michele Long (Jake), Steven Paul, Andrew Paul, and Michael D. Paul, Jr.; six great- grandchildren, Christopher Paul, Nicholas Paul, Casey Kukielski, Kyle Kukielski, Madelyn Rae Long, and Scott Baker, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rusty Judy, Casey Kukielski, Chad Paul, Steven Paul, Andrew Paul and Michael D.
