ATLANTA, Ga. - Betty Rowse Sheppard, 80, of Atlanta died Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Originally from Statesboro, she spent much of her adult life in Augusta, moving to Atlanta to be with her family twenty years ago. She was actively involved at Campbell-Stone in Buckhead, where she lived, and at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wesley Fellowship Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was known to her grandchildren and many others as Bebe. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Sheppard. She is survived by her sisters, Helen Dean of Ridgeland, SC and Catherine Brown of Bartlesville, OK. She leaves behind a legacy of love that includes her sons, James E. Sheppard, Jr. of Duluth, GA and Stephen L. Sheppard of Atlanta, their wives Nancy Sheppard and Laura Sheppard, and five grandchildren, Anna, Emily, Ruthie, Lee and Will. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to "Mission Possible", c/o Peachtree Road UMC, 3180 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30305 or the Andrew and Eula Carlos Hospice Atlanta Center, 1244 Park Vista Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319. Her life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 6, at Peachtree Road UMC with a reception immediately following.
