PLEASANT, S.C. - Graveside Services for Mrs. Lurine Rumph Mealing, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, who entered into rest November 28, 2008, will be conducted Monday at 12 noon in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mealing was a native of Dorchester County, SC, a former resident of Augusta for more than 30 years, having recently made Mt. Pleasant her home. She was the daughter of the late Mary and George W. Rumph and wife of the late Jack McKee and the late Robert B. Mealing and sister of the late Gladys R. Rourke of Charleston, SC. Mrs. Mealing had many interests. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and painting. But her greatest enjoyment and passion was that of ballroom dancing. Her love for ballroom dancing led her to her devoted husband, Robert B. Mealing who taught ballroom dancing in Augusta, GA. They were married for ten wonderful years until cancer took him from her in 1995. Their favorite song to dance to was "Save The Last Dance For Me". They are surely having that dance now. We love you and will dearly miss you. She was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, Diane M. and Kearns Garren, Sr., Augusta; four grandchildren, John Kearns Garren, Jr., Jacob Robert Garren, Bryan Peter Garren and Julia Breanne Garren who all lovingly referred to her as "Nina". She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Janette and Dr. S.O. Schumann, Sr., St. Stephens, SC; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. G. Kirkland & Helen Rumph, Charleston, SC; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5.
