Good for the Deputy. If more "armed robber" had end result like this fella we would see fewer of them I am sure.
A Richmond County sheriff's deputy shot a man at Captain D's on Wrightsboro Road on Monday night, according to a department spokesman.
Lt. Scott Peebles confirmed the shooting at the restaurant at 3166 Wrightsboro Road. He would not give any details, saying only, "The officer was not the person shot."
Police responded to an armed robbery call at the location at 7:47 p.m., according to a sheriff's dispatcher.
Lt. Peebles said the case has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The man was taken to an area hospital, and his condition was not known.
Authorities from the sheriff's office and GBI crime scene units spent hours interviewing workers from the restaurant and taking photographs inside the restaurant.
GBI Special Agent Pat Morgan declined to provide the names of the person shot or the deputy involved, but he did confirm that an armed robbery was taking place at the time of the shooting.

I'm glad he was caught in the act. Getting shot is part of the punishment.
Good job Mr. Deputy.
Good Job RCSO Deputy.
yet how many are not caught in the act & summarily apprehended ? for the most part, police show up after the incident & fill out reports,,, its still important to have the means of self-defense.
poor guy! i hope he sues.
If he was the robber, why wouldn't they give his name? Maybe an innocent bystander was shot. How decent is it to encourage people being shot? Gotta love this city.........
Sheriff Strength, give your deputies more time on the firing range, shoot to kill these thug-robbers; they are not worth the price of two bullets.
the guy is dead and he was not innocent. I guess he cant sue then, can he, ispeakdatruth...
My daughter was working there last night. It was the robber that got shot and I think he is dead. Not sure.. I was on the scene while they were working on him. He was shot 5 times.
Only 5 shots? I hope that this will deter others from thinking that robbery makes a quick buck. It can be successful for the robber at times.....but incidents like this one should give them pause to think.
rcso 1 scum bags of augusta 0
I hope it was the robber, I've eaten at Capt D's and know how bad the food is, may have been a cook who was shot
Has anyone forgotten why businesses employ deputies to work off duty?? Simple, to protect them and their employees from violence acts committed by lazy*zz people who dont want to work. And whats even more funnier is that I know their had to be a marked police car out front of the business. My prayers go out to the family but he chose to rob a store which is known to have an off duty deputy working.. with the police car out front.......Worlds dumbest criminals-0... R.C.S.O.-1. Good Job Brother!!!
Well glad it was not an Innocent by stander and am truly thankful no one else was hurt...
spdermn78... your right the officer is always in there and is in uniform but he is in his personal car. lucky for the the workers the officer was out of sight in the corner of the room when he came in and went straight to the back, that's when the officer got him.
The security in place seems to have worked this time. It is refreshing to know that the innocent customers were protected. How many times have we seen this end badly in our nation. Thanks to the security guard, it ended as well as it could have.
Good job Officer...Praise God you were not harmed...
I hope they don't put the deputy through H--l for doing his job. If law abiding citizens would arm themselves they could shot the crooks themselvers,. There would be less crime.
stadry - right on. Defend yourself !! don't rely on others.
Shot FIVE times? Since when does the sheriffs Dept have the authority to issue the death penalty on the spot? Just more proof that the Gestopo is alive and well, only the targets aren"t Jews, they are now hunting african americans.
Some of you people know a lot more about this than the article even says. How is that? If we went back to the Bibilical way of dealing with crime, i.e. an eye for an eye, there would be a lot less crime around.
...well there is one less Obama supporter out there...
justus4....the facts are in....what else you want to know? and usnvet.... it wasn't about color. the kids that this officer was defending were black kids that are working hard for a living. If he were just shooting because he was black, then why he would have let him do what he wanted to them. The robber should have put the gun down when asked and he may not have been shot. the robber was also a big guy, like 6'2 around 250 lbs or more. The officer saved those kids from any harm. I thank him from the bottom of my heart.
usnvet....also who said the robber was black, were you outside helping him. were you the get away driver.
lets just say for the sake of argument that he was black he was shot five times and he tried to rob a store that had a deputy working in the store and he is dead whereever you get that information true or not these are things you can do absolutely nothing about turn the computer off get up and go to work. today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!!
Phish.... I understand that there nothing we can do about it, but for agrument sake...you shouldn't tell us to turn computer off, your on here as well. And I have a right to be concerned...my daughter was one of the young people this man pointed a gun at last night.
usnvet your tired soliloquy is outdated, overdone, as well as nauseatingly simple minded...Open season on African-Americans...Oh please...
Here we go playing the race card again. Never did I read what color this thug was.
