Amber Forbes is not totally correct ("We need to look at policies, not people," Letters, Nov. 20). President-elect Barack Obama was not elected by ignorant masses. Most of these people are educated who voted for President-elect Obama, including myself.
Even Oprah Winfrey supported him, and she's very well-educated and highly intelligent as a talk show host. John McCain would not have necessarily won if he had been a Democrat. That is, if John McCain would have had most of the same policies as President Bush and most Republicans (which he does).
Most people in America did consider a candidate's policies. Most also considered other things also. For example, the economy. That's also one of the reasons why John McCain lost.
President-elect Obama doesn't support the murder of babies up to nine months the way people like Amber Forbes make it out to be. One of the Ten Commandments says thou shall not kill. Abortion and the death penalty are all the same. In fact, all sins are the same according to the Bible. Besides, separation of church and state does exist. Amber Forbes and people like her are the ones who got it wrong and overlook that.
Most Americans who voted for President-elect Obama do understand what kind of change he is proposing. I pray he can make the most of these changes while in office.
Not all of us who voted for President-elect Obama feel that only Democrats can bring about change. In fact, I feel that any good person can make good changes for most people. Most people like me have already researched both candidates' policies and others'. People like Amber Forbes are the ones who need to do that and get the facts.

Yeah David, killing innocent babies is exactly the same as sentencing convicted criminals to death. Brilliant! I agree with you...educated people, just like you, voted for Obama. (even that brilliant thinker Oprah)
I'm laughing too hard to even think of anything to say to this. I wonder if this was orginally the cover letter for his resume to Lowell Greenbaum? If this is an example of an educated Obama voter, well I'd hate to see.....nevermind.
Thank goodness another person in the CSRA has a brain and can think independently. I expect much antagonism in posts below from characters still living in 1915 arrive (Pat, apex, don, etc.) and whose source of knowledge is limited to the AC and their neighbor. It seems the CSRA has the bulk of bitter losers -- still trying to defend a political party that has once again, destroyed the United States economy. It makes no sense (their hate) but I would expect nothing less. I wonder how many stayed up all night thinking about a birth certificate. I can hear them pounding on their keyboards now -- hope they don't have a heart attack. Go Obama!

Remember the "housing bubble" that we heard about so much in the news? It popped. The bubble was over-inflated not by banks, but by the gov't forcing banks to put out bad loans.

I beg to differ with you Mr. Thomas. For the majority of Obama's voters voted for color not change. As shown by the post interviews and of those that voted for Obama, most did not even know who Obama had selected for Vice President or anything about his platform. Many of these people could not even spell President. Remember, "never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups". As far as Oprah is concerned, she has never endorsed a Presidential candidate until Obama, that shows her colors.

Talkatoast sometimes when most of the people in a party turn their heads the other way and not face the fact that our current administration doesn't know what they are doing or try to stop them from sinking everything, the total party gets the blame for everything and should. The Republican party has done the same thing everytime they have gotton in power with the exception of President Reagan.

Well disssman Bush has the distinction of the absolute highest and absolute lowest approval ratings of any president. The moral:whatever goes up must come down. I find that odd given his present status. People are fickle-well he is too.

Silence is the method of change. All parties involved here are wishing to silence the opposition. Who will yell louder when the guillotine falls on us all? None will be able to even mutter a whisper as I foresee the end of our freedoms coming sooner than we think. Living and let live should be the order of the day. As Voltaire said once,"I may not agree with a word you say but will defend your right to say it with my life." Freedom is worth fighting and dying for.

The Democrats haven't run a damn thing since 2002 (as of currently), roymccoy. So, you are blaming the wrong people for this mess. Every single Republican, with the notable exception of Lincoln Chafee, got us into this mess and therefore they should all be held responsible.
