Mayors poem
By Mayor Deke Copenhaver| Special
Sunday, November 23, 2008

Her smiling face was always warming

As through the meetings we would go

Never wavering in her strong support

As calm debate went to and fro.

Her words of encouragement got us through

When the times would seem a mess

Soothing requests for open records

As she shouted "Freedom of the Press!"

Though we may have been lampooned at times

Perhaps more deserved than some would think

We will miss her constant presence

And her column City Ink.

So we bid farewell from City Hall

I must ask for one more thing,

Having turned 41 just yesterday

Can you still call me your "boy king?"
