Burke County falls to unbeaten Cairo

CAIRO, Ga. --- Burke County quarterback Terrell Brigham and Cairo running back Reginald Bryant put on a show in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs Friday.

Brigham ended up with the better numbers, but Bryant's team remained unbeaten, winning 41-28.

Brigham accounted for 326 yards of offense -- 250 passing and another 76 rushing -- and had a hand in all four Burke County touchdowns.

But Burke County's defense had no answer for Bryant, who rushed for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

As a team, the Syrupmakers had 397 yards on the ground. Burke had 151 on two more carries (37) than Cairo.

Cairo scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to go up 28-14 entering the fourth quarter.

Burke completes an 8-4 season.
