Strom Thurmond

running back/linebacker

Brown rushed for 235 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 61-27 playoff win over Southside. Brown has rushed for 1,212 yards and scored 24 touchdowns this season.

"He's valuable to us on both sides of the ball, and we try and rest him on defense because he plays every snap on offense. ... He's got a knack for our option play (with quarterback Javon Brown). That and the fact he's real strong, our strongest player (who) benches about 315 pounds." -- Strom Thurmond coach Lee Sawyer

"I love defense, but I do what I have to do to play both ways. ... At first I thought I was doing bad (running the ball), but everything has been going pretty good (lately). ... Javon and I have gotten better -- better at communicating and stuff, and now we are playing real good together. "

Maurice Brown is a beast. He

Maurice Brown is a beast. He has the ability to run around you, over you or right by you. And defensively, you don't want to run his way. Coaches say he is even a better person than football player(that says a lot). Keep it going and good luck!!!

Great job augusta chronicle on spotlighting one of the best players in the csra.
