Fish for the Children Open Team Bass Tournament

Dec. 6, Lake Springs Ramp

This is a charity event to benefit the Medical College of Georgia's Children's Medical Center. Entry fee is $35 per team and includes a $5 big fish pot. 50 percent payback, rest to the center. One place paid for every 10 boats. Open Team Bass Tournament

Nov. 29, Wildwood Park

Tournament hours are safe light until 3 p.m. There is no entry fee, but each team must bring two new unwrapped toys valued at $10 each. Guaranteed payback includes $2,500 for first place, cash and prizes awarded through 15th place. Big fish award: $500. Pre-registration meeting will be held on Tuesday at Broadway Tackle, 1730 Broad St., Augusta, starting at 5:30 p.m. Boat position drawing will begin at 7 p.m. Late registration will be held at the ramp on tournament morning. All proceeds to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots, MCG Children's Medical Center and Tri-Development Center of Aiken.

Next: Dec. 13. Entry fee is $20 per team, with a $10 big fish pot and 100 percent payback. Hours are safe light until 1 p.m. Register at the DeLaughter Drive boat ramp off Martintown Road in North Augusta. Refreshments will be served to contestants after the weigh-in.

Southern Anglers Challenge

Registration will be held at the ramp. Anglers must pay a one-time $30 membership fee. Entry fee is $100 plus a $10 big fish pot fee and $10 championship fee.

The 2009 championship pays a guaranteed $15,000 to the winners and 100 percent payback to the remaining paid places.

Van Dixon, four bass, 13.65 pounds. David Brown, five bass, 9.55 pounds. Jerry Barber, five bass, 8.50 pounds. Big fish: Dixon, 7.30 pounds. Thirty-two fish weighing 55.35 pounds were caught and released.

American Bass Anglers

American Bass Anglers is the largest tournament trail for the weekend angler, with more than 116 districts offering more than 1,000 tournaments throughout the nation. Membership is open to anyone 16 years old and over, but is closed to professional fishermen and professional guides. Those under 18 must have their parents' consent.
