CLEARWATER, S.C. - Finished life's journey and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, Mr. Charles L. Reece, age 73, of Clearwater, S.C., loving husband for 55 years to Janie Harris Reece and son of the late Ben F. Reece and the late Anna Ward Reece. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters; Gail (Johnny) McGee of Clearwater, S.C., and Darline (Bob) Perkins of Cross Hill, S.C.; sons, Larry (Trudy) Reece of Evans, Ga., and Jerry Reece of Clearwater, S.C.; brothers, J. D. Reece of Florence, S.C., and David Reece of Wimberly, Texas; sisters, Shirley Collier of Ft. Worth, Texas and Brenda Potter of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was born in Forest City, N.C. but has lived most of his life in Aiken County. He was a member of Bath United Methodist Church in Bath, S.C. He had a great love for his family and friends; and next to them, came his love of playing country music on his steel guitar. As a matter of fact, he was the co-founder of the Southern Steel Guitar Convention in Saluda, S.C. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched; however, there is a consolation in knowing that life for Charles has not ended but only begun in a better land. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Bath United Methodist Church with Rev. Wade Everett officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Langley, S.C. The pallbearers will be Charlton Reece, Jared Reece, Jonathan McGee, Tony Rhoden, Howard Antram and Jason Rushton. The family will receive friends tonight, Thursday, November 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Napier Funeral Home. Memorials, in Mr. Reece's honor, may be made to Bath United Methodist Church, Drawer C., Bath, S.C. 29816. Mr. Reece will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
