WARTHEN, Ga. - Mr. Gregory Hilliard Bateman, age 51, of Warthen, died Monday, November 17, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21st at 2:00pm at the Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in the Sandersville Old City Cemetery. Rev. Michael Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Neil Pittman, Johnny Wilbanks, Bob Wilson, Randy Hall, Tom Hutcheson, Julian Jones, Paul Bryan, and Curt Smith. Greg was born in Baldwin County and a life long resident of Washington County, the son of Frances Susan Williamson Bateman and the late Osgood Massee Bateman Sr. DVM. He was a Georgia Military Academy High School Graduate and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Music and a Masters Degree of Science in Administration from Georgia College and State University. Greg was employed in the Kaolin Industry working in the field of quality improvement with Anglo American Clays, EEC International and the J.M. Huber Corporation from 1981 to 2003. Professionally, he was awarded the Presidents award from the J.M. Huber Corp, obtained A.S.Q.C. Certification as a quality auditor and was a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Greg worked as a financial consultant with Capital Street Financial Services from 2003 to present. He was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Music occupied an important part of Greg's life. He was a knowledgeable lover of music and an accomplished jazz musician. Survivors are his wife Anne Gina Bader Bateman, sons, James Osgood Bateman and Alexander Bader Bateman, all of Warthen, his mother Frances Williamson Bateman of Sandersville, brother Osgood Massee Bateman Jr., MD, of Washington DC., and sister Indra Bateman Kaur Khalsa of Louisville, CO. The family will be at the Bateman residence 494 Warthen Lane, Warthen, and will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
