BLACKVILLE, S.C. - Funeral services for Elizabeth Brinkley Kammer, 97 of Blackville, SC, will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, the Rev. David Grubbs will be officiating. Burial will be in The Blackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Healing Springs Baptist Church, 226 Springs Court, Blackville, SC 29817 or to Winyah Hospice, 1797 Hillsboro Rd., Orangeburg, SC, 29115. Mrs. Kammer died November 16, 2008 at her residence. Born July 2, 1911 in Ellenton, SC, she was the oldest child of Norman Spann and Gertrude Foreman Brinkley. Other than her first few years of marriage when she lived in Augusta, Ga, she had been a life long resident of South Carolina, living in North Augusta, Charleston and Blackville. She was a dedicated homemaker; she impressed everyone with her wit, charisma, charm and grace. She was the widow of Herman C. Kammer, Sr. Survivors include daughters, Tillie Wright, Katrina Pound, Amelia Toney; sons, Herman C. (Buddy) Kammer, Jr., Henry N. Kammer, H. Dietrich Kammer; brother, Marion F. Brinkley; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family thanks Winyah Community Hospice Care, especially Robin, Caitlin and Karen for their care and kindness. They also extend their thanks to Dr. Martha Parker Hester and Dr. Donald Loebl for their professional services and care over many years. A special thanks to her principal caregiver and companion, Hazel Sanders and others who were instrumental in making her latter days comfortable.
