Monday must have seemed like a good day to commit a robbery at a local bank.
Three holdups were reported at three separate sites - all before lunchtime.
Richmond County Sheriff's Sgt. Calvin Chew said the incidents do not appear connected.
The robberies began about 9:30 a.m. at a SunTrust Bank branch on Gordon Highway when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt snatched a bank bag from a person about to make a deposit.
Thirty minutes later, police responded to the Georgia Bank & Trust branch at Reynolds and Eighth streets after a man pushed a backpack through the teller window and said to fill it.
The robber was described as a white man in his 50s, wearing a green baseball cap, tan jacket and blue jeans. He ran from the scene with the money, which was filled with a red dye pack.
About 90 minutes later, a third bandit robbed a bank in McDuffie County.
Thomson Police Chief John Hathaway said the man walked into First Bank of Georgia at 110 E. Hill St. and gave a clerk a note demanding money.
The robber was described as a black man wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black cap , according to Agent Gary Nicholson of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Chief Hathaway said none of the bank's employees saw a gun. Witnesses also did not see if the robber drove away in a vehicle or fled on foot.

Not condoning the the method, but on a lighter note maybe the three thought they were recouping their tax dollars from the bank bailout.
As the economy worsens and more people lose their jobs you can expect to see more crime such as this.
Snatching a bank bag doesnt make a bank robbery.
Hmmmmm I would say it happened at a bank....and a bank bag was snatched from a customer about to make a deposit....sounds like a bank robbery to me. Go with Direct Deposit and you're outta of the line of snatching...and don't have to set foot in the bank.
Seems a lot of citizens are getting a jump on the presidents wealth redistribution idea. I say STOP! The whole idea of having a leader is to let him lead.
Law enforcement needs to stake out banks if bank robberies are this prevalent. Catching a few will be a great preventive measure with other potential robbers.
Instead of dye packs, why not replace'em with proximity fragmentation grenades? Problem solved and I doubt the bank robber will try THAT again.
Maybe they are getting their money back that was stolen from them during the BUSH years.
