Vasta L. Rousey (HARLEM, Ga.)

HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Vasta L. Ayers Rousey 72 entered into rest Sunday, November 16, 2008 at her residence wife of the late Chester Rousey. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18 at 3:00PM at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Sutphin and Oscar Whiteside officiating. Mrs. Rousey will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Rousey was a native of Franklin County, Georgia and lived in Harlem most her life. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and a homemaker, member of the Ladies Auxiliary and The Very Special People Club of Harlem. She also served on the Oliver Hardy Festival Committee Survivors include three daughters, Lynne ( Michael) McTier, Dearing, Jean (Eddie) Dove, Harlem, Anne (Jimmy) Glasscock of Harlem; one sister, Imogene (Harold) Stapp of High Springs, Fl., two brothers, Herbert (Margaret) Ayers, Mauldin, S.C. and Darby Ayers, Carnesville, Ga. Additional survivors include, seven grandchildren, Joshua (Francesca) Davis, Amanda (Bobby) Cash, Angela Glasscock, Tommy (Megan) Glasscock, Jamie Glasscock, Dillon McTier and Sandi (Peters) Calamas; six great grandchildren, special family members, Annie (Louis) Shaw, Sue (Gerald) Stanley, Dean (Cindy) Rousey and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dillon McTier, Joshua Davis, Jamie Glasscock, Tommy Glasscock, Michael Shaw, Jimmy Glasscock. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Harlem Relay of Life, Augusta Office, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909 or the Mt Tabor Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 1346 Harlem, GA 30814.
