JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Deacon Warner McCain, 96, entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 13, 2008. Deacon McCain was retired from the United States Army and worked for Cannon Mills until his retirement. He was also an independent business man, owning his on home improvement, real estate, and contracting businesses. He was a dedicated worker in his church as a Deacon, Trustee and Community Organizer. He was also a Mason for over 60 years. He was a strong and dedicated family man. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mattie McCain; a daughter, Hazel Kyler; two sons, Artie and Lee McCain; a sister and brother- in-law, Ruth and Oscar Willingham; and a grandson, Deacon Flenoise Torrence. He leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Ishtor Green, Texas, Pecolia Davis, Maryland, Warner McCain, Arizona; one son, Franklin McCain, Sr., North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, which three reside in Augusta, Ga., Pamela Willis, Carolyn (Raymond) Mack, and Kamala Torrence; several great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and close friends. Viewing will be held November 17, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Both will be held at The Historic Mt. Zion A.M.E. - 201 E. Beaver Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
