Sex at middle school sends six to tribunal
Six Glenn Hills Middle School pupils accused of having a sexual relationship on campus last month were sent to tribunal.
Five boys and one girl had an inappropriate relationship after school hours Oct. 23, Director of Public Information Louis Svehla said. The incident was nonviolent.
Although the tribunal hearing was held for the pupils Nov. 7, he would not reveal the outcome because the teens can still appeal the decision. Mr. Svehla said a report has also been forwarded to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
Police search for man in attempted kidnap
Richmond County investigators are searching for a man they say attempted to kidnap his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint Thursday morning.
Travis Lee "Trapp" Brown, 21, of Cook Road, is wanted on kidnapping and carjacking charges. Mr. Brown forced his way into the woman's car at her work on Professional Parkway and made the victim drive away, according to sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles.
Eventually, she persuaded him to let her go. Mr. Brown is driving a 2009 silver Toyota Corolla with the South Carolina license plate number AFJ 456, a sheriff's report says. He is also wanted on armed robbery charges in connection with the July robbery of Wang's Wangs restaurant on Milledgeville Road.

Thomson High student injured in car crash
A Thomson High School student was injured and taken to an Augusta hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Neal's Mill Road near Dearing on Thursday morning.
Rebecca Hawkins, 16, a junior, was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, according to the Georgia State Patrol. She was listed in good condition shortly before noon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Dearing man stabbed following break-in
A Dearing man was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital after breaking into a woman's home and being stabbed late Tuesday, authorities said.
Andre Dye was stabbed "four to five times" in the chest about 11:15 p.m. by a woman at a mobile home in Johnson's Trailer Park, just off Larkin Road near Dearing, according to a report by McDuffie County sheriff's Deputy Bret Bentley. Police asked MCG officials not to release information on Mr. Dye.
Feds indict four in tractor-trailer thefts
A federal indictment returned this week accuses four men of operating a tractor-trailer theft ring and stealing equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The indictment returned Monday accuses James Albert Alewine, Dale Larue Davis, Al Lee Alewine and Gordon Scott Martin of conspiracy and interstate transport of stolen property. The alleged crimes occurred between Feb. 14 and June 26. According to the indictment, the thefts include: a $15,000 tractor truck, a $6,500 flat bed trailer, a $12,000 forklift. a $900 oxygen/acetylene cutting torch, a trailer with $30,000 in copper wire, three tractor trucks each valued at $70,000 and a $64,000 tractor truck.
Augustan pleads guilty in gun-store burglary
A 21-year-old Augusta man involved in the burglary of a gun store in 2006 and an aggravated assault this year pleaded guilty Thursday in both cases.
Reginald D. Bussey admitted he took part in the July 28, 2006, break-in of Shooters and the theft of 15 handguns. Although Mr. Bussey denied he was armed, he pleaded guilty to the Jan. 13 aggravated assault on a man who was involved with Mr. Bussey's ex-girlfriend.
Richmond County Superior Court Judge Michael N. Annis sentenced Mr. Bussey to one year in jail followed by three years' probation under the First Offender Act.
Fire damages two apartment units
Firefighters were battling an apartment fire on Spruce Street in Augusta tonight.
The fire broke out at the Scott Allen Homes Housing Authority complex about 8:40 p.m., according to Richmond County dispatchers.
About four engine companies responded to the blaze, which destroyed two apartments. No other information is immediately available.
