AUGUSTA, Ga. - Left his earthly home to go to his Father's mansion in glory on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Doctors Hospital, Mr. Davis P. Walker, 81, husband of 52 years to Monica H. Walker. Mr. Walker retired from the US Air Force, Georgia Iron Works and K B Toys. He was a member of Augusta Ducks Unlimited, American Legion Post 205, and the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was a treasurer for H 2 U at Doctors Hospital. He was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon. Mr. Walker was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved people and never met a stranger. Mr. Walker was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Valdosta State University and was also an Augusta Historian and ancestor to the first white child born in Augusta. Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Donna Walker-Carithers and husband Gene, Desiree Hogue and husband Michael; son: Derek Walker and wife Vivian; grandchildren: Jillian Hogue, Jordan Hogue, Heather Chavous, Tyler Chavous, Dylan Chavous, and Gina Carithers; great-granddaughter: Jolie Chavous; brother: Jimmy D. Walker and was very close to his in-laws in England. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Galloway, Rev. Olin Sizemore, Rev. Oscar Barrow and Rev. Phillip Vestal officiating. Pallbearers will be Tommy Carter, Jeff Carter, Herbie Flick, Danny Howell, Mark Thraillkill and Mark Vosburg. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow with full Military Honors at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
