AIKEN, S.C. - Richard Charles Weigle of Aiken, SC entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of sixty-two years, Pauline Watson Weigle. Born in 1921 in East Union, Ohio, Mr. Weigle was an Army veteran who served as a distinguished Infantry officer during World War II. Following the war, he was a lifelong employee of Ford Motor Company, and owner of Jackknife Marina on Lake Erie. He retired to Aiken in 1978. Mr. Weigle was an Erie County Special Constable, a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include wife Francine Weigle of Aiken, SC, and children, Llewellynn Carpenter of Cohutta, GA, Nancy Kraus of Richmond, VA, Glenn Weigle of St. Augustine, FL, and Charles Weigle of Aiken, SC. Mr. Weigle is also survived by a sister, Susan Enzor of Fredericktown, OH, and two brothers, Chester and Warren Weigle, both of Aiken, SC. He is also survived by ten grandchildren including John Ramsey of Ft. Myers, FL, Richard Kraus of Sydney, AU, Matthew Kraus of Boston, MA, Sarah Kraus of NY, NY, Christina Dotson of Jackson, MS, Richard Weigle of St. Augustine, FL, Lindsay Weigle of Jacksonville, FL, Army 2LT Charles Weigle of Ft. Rucker, AL, and Rachael Weigle of Columbia, SC, Katherine Weigle of Aiken, SC, and three great grandchildren, Sydney Ramsey, John Ramsey III, and Patrick Dotson. He is also survived by a stepdaughter Robin Bache, and five step-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Shellhouse Funeral Home, Aiken, SC on Friday, November 7 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted at Shellhouse Funeral Home by Reverend Steve Taylor of Grace Brethren Church of Aiken, SC on Saturday, November 8 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC.
