One Italian and 21 German prisoners of war buried at Fort Gordon were honored during a wreath-laying ceremony Thursday to coincide with the German Volkstrauertag, or "peoples mourning day." The day honors those who died in World Wars I and II, and those who died because of race, religion or ideological or political convictions.
