RAVE FOR THE Augusta American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders that rode to Cartersville, Ga, to honor Air Force Capt. Conner. He was MIA in Viet Nam for 42 years and his remains were identified and brought home to his family. Kudos to all the Vets !!

A RANT to the caller ID info that was displayed on the "robo-calls" from political candidates. At least be fair about it and have it say "Broun Campaign" or "Saxby's HQ". This "private" and "Call" ID nonsense wastes a lot of everybody's time.

BLACK PEOPLE DON'T vote for candidates just because they are black. If Clarence Thomas ran for president, he would get about six Black votes.

I WAS JUST WONDERING when women are going to stand up and demand equality and be added to the draft! This country should be ashamed it keeps women from such a patriotic duty!

IT WAS NICE OF The Chronicle to place a small paragraph on page two claiming "reporter error" for the HUGE mistake made on Columbia County's advance voting hours! That reporter should be at the voting locations at 5 p.m. to turn the voters away.

The poll workers do not set the hours! They deal with voters all day, generally very pleasant voters, but just watch when closing time comes. It's the truly RUDE people that come right after closing and expect, sometimes demanding, that they be allowed to vote. Columbia County started "early voting" Sept. 22, until Oct. 24. THAT'S 25 DAYS! Then "advance voting" - five MORE DAYS! SO, with 30 days, plus our actual Election Day - there was NO reason the hard working poll workers should wait around for those INCONSIDERATE voters that show up after poll closing times.

FRANKS, DODD, PELOSI, Rangel and Obama. The English used to say, "God save the Queen." Considering this radical group: "God save America!"

CHRONICLE'S FRONT PAGE headline (29 Oct) reads "Dow's surge defies logic." Not at all, Chronicle . That's completely wrong. The logic is that the whole thing has been manipulated from behind the scenes by Greenspan/Bernanke/Bush/Paulson and their bosses from various countries' central banks.

AIKEN CITY Manager (Roger) LeDuc says funding for some draining work in Hitchcock Woods "could come from ... the 1-cent sales tax that will be voted on in two years ..." What gall and arrogance to assume Aiken voters will vote for another SPLOST two years in the future.

A RANT TO the person who hit my car and kept riding on Halloween night on Aiken-Augusta Highway. You didn't even have the common decency to pull over but rather exceed the speed limit with your hazard lights on and run the red light as I was chasing behind you. I didn't catch you, you white Lincoln with new South Carolina plates, but karma will.

This is a rave for Judy L., who delivers my newspaper in the Walnut Grove subdivision in North Augusta. What a good job you are doing. Keep up the good work.

THIS IS A RANT to the inconsiderate drivers on Interstate 20 who ride the right lane and don't give way to the people stopped at the ramps to let them get on. Move over!

IF YOUR CANDIDATE lost, say "Oh well," take a deep breath, release it and move on.

LOCAL PREACHERS need to preach the Bible and not politics. If they want to teach politics, they need to turn the church into a college and start paying taxes. Getting into the pulpit and telling folks who to vote for based on the preacher's opinion and threatening folks' relationship with God if they do not agree with the preacher is wrong.

SIXTY YEARS AGO, few people failed to graduate, and roughly 99 percent of those either had to drop out at about 16 to farm, or they dropped out and joined the Army. Thus, they immediately became productive citizens. And we pay school principals and county superintendents enough, in some cases, to become millionaires within four or five years. The U.S. continues its steep decline.

TO THE LADY or gentleman who wrote in that ignorance was going to elect Obama, I don't think so. I think belief and trust (elected) him, and your hatred is going to destroy you.

I'M 62 YEARS old, and I'd just like to say this is the first time in my life I honestly am not proud of our country.

THIS IS TO the local radio stations. I love Christmas music as much as everybody. Please don't start playing it 24 hours a day until after Thanksgiving. Two months of 24 hours a day is a little too much, with the same songs played over and over. We all love Christmas. Let's start celebrating it after Thanksgiving.

I THOUGHT IT was illegal for people to ride around with their pets, mainly dogs, in the front seat on their lap. I don't understand how you are able to maintain control of the car if you have a dog on your lap that is moving around.
