The world changed on Nov. 4, and Richmond County voters help make it happen.
What did not happen was the re-election of Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss. Richmond County voters gave Democrat Jim Martin more votes than any county outside of DeKalb and Fulton counties, resulting in a run-off.
Chambliss represents all that the country has swept away. He represents the Bush vote-alikes, which may have cost the Republicans another seat in the Senate.
He chastised an inspector of the sugar factory who warned of an impending explosion that killed workers. Why? Because he gets money from the sugar industry. He voted to accept torture and eavesdropping on our citizens. He voted against the S-Chip program to help our children's health care, and he votes continuously to extend the war in Iraq.
The final disaster for him was when he voted the Bush bailout plan, which Republicans in Georgia had pleaded with him to reject.
President-elect Obama does not need the likes of him. Hopefully on Dec. 2, Jim Martin will emerge victorious and send Saxby home where he belongs.
I know that Richmond County voters will reject him again and help move this state from pink to blue.
Then we will know that Georgia is moving forward to revive our standing in the world.

Anyone voting for Saxby is neither a conservative nor a REPUBLICAN. Not one of you can defend him with respect to stated party principles. The choice is between two liberals and one of them has a history of lying to us and doing irreparable harm to us, our families, and friends. Both of them are equally likely to produce a record that a conservative or Republican could be proud of. Would you HYPOCRITES GET OUT OF OUR PARTY? We are about to have a war that will make the Dem-neocon Republican conflict look like a skirmish. Seriously, I want the Saxby crowd the HELL out of OUR party.

Better to hold your noses and put Chambliss back in the Senate rather than have the DIMocRATS have complete control. The Senate is the only place Republicans can now put a check on the socialist programs about to crammed down their throats in the House. Do NOT give DIMs the 60 they need to run over Senate Republicans as Pilosi does in the House.

Ga Values. I'm in no way defending Chambliss. My question to Greenbaum is why is it a "final disaster" when Chambliss voted for the bail out, but when Obama voted for the same thing, you didn't hear a peep of criticism directed at him for it? How much did Obama's vote cost?

While conservative Democrats were becoming conservative Republicans Cleland kept moving to the liberal side. Did Chamblis say anything about Cleland that wasn't true?

The ads that the Democrats ran about Saxby and the Fair Tax was a flat out provable lie. How can anyone support someone like that? Regardless of party.

Greenbaum is the spinster of the left for Richmond County. He will say whatever he must to make his point, disregarding that the Democrats who are guilty of Lowell says get a free ride.
I've only been living in GA for about 2 years so I don't know the full history about Chambliss and Cleland other than what's I've read on the internet. I do follow Chambliss' voting record quite often, getting updates on votes and pending votes. The way I've seen him vote doesn't lend him to getting my vote during the run-off.

I'm not too keen on either of the candidates, but will vote for Saxby just to keep the Democrats from having total governmental control. Jim Martin leaves much more to be desired than Saxby does.
